If they draft an OT, Jansen and Heyer are still pretty decent "depth". And they still have Fabini on the roster behind Jansen and Heyer.

If Dock is signed and Kendall is kept, that's good depth at LG. Buges said the light finally came on for Chad Rinehart late last year and as Zorn recently said, as a 3rd round pick, he needs to step up.

Along with Chad, they currently have Devin Clark, Justin Geisinger, Will Montgomery, Rueben Riley, D’Anthony Batiste and Isaiah Ross on the roster for OG depth. Certainly all won't make the team and all aren't premier players, but at least it's some depth. Also, Lorenzo Alexander can, and has, played on the o-line when needed. And again, a few guys could be added from the draft.

I'm in no way implying that we're set, and we certainly need an infusion of youth along the entire o-line, but perhaps a few players via free agency and the draft and we should be okay for this year.

That's what worries me. We have a quarterback with an 8 second release playing a 5 second offense... "okay" is just not comforting, and is not likely to improve our anemic offense. Okay isn't going to give Jason the time it appears he needs.

I'm sure that field position is likely to improve, and it's even likely that we'll see some scoring by our d this year... but that won't win games without help from our offense.

I read this pretty good article about why the redskins go after big priced free agents...I can't seem to find it now but the writer said we have to do it because Dan and Vinny aren't smart enough to build through the draft and through economical free agent buys.

Cerrato showed his draft incompetence this previous season. When asked why he doesn’t like to draft linemen he responded with, “I mean, it came down to Phillip Merling, people say that we maybe should have taken. He has seven tackles right now for Miami.” Merling had 23 tackles and a sack at the time of these comments, numbers that were equal to big off-season trade acquisition Jason Taylor. He went on to flub the numbers of another defensive end he passed on, Calais Campbell. Cerrato said, “I think Calais has 11 tackles.” He had 23 as well. I think that is what has pi$$ed me off about the Haynesworth signing most of all. I went to bat for Vinny numerous times. I told people to just give him another year, that he did good by keeping all the picks, then adding more by trading down. It isn't anything to do with Haynesworth, I've long thought we needed a guy exactly like him on the d-line. It's about the same old, irresponsible, big splash, midnnight of free agency moves that led us down this same old path. We are the NY Yankees of football again and I hate that.

Do you really blame Vinny for that?? I'm almost fell sorry for the guy...but then I think about how much DS is paying him and I don't.

The difference is the Yankees compete on an annual basis and actually win championships.

they are a very successful franchise and have had a lot more success than we have both recently and in their history but the only people that think that franchise has done anything but suck the last 5 years is themselves and their stupid fans.

They are 3rd in the East right now and that is only because the Orioles have Angelos

Well, since the Skins last won a Super Bowl the Yankees have won 4 world series and played for two others. They also made the playoffs for thirteen consecutive seasons. Love them or hate them you can't deny their success.

Not to disagree with anything said, but spending big money on a few "stars" makes more sense in baseball and basketball. They put 9 and 5 players in a game, respectively, compared to 22-33 for football (if you include Special teams). Also, those other sports do not have as much salary restriction as football. In basketball, teams can exceed the cap and pay a luxury tax. In baseball, there is no cap, so the Yankees pay their team easily 5 times more than the bottom half of the league!

Meanwhile, we see the Patriots doing it right yet again. They are willing to sign a free agent here or there, as needed (Randy Moss, Fred Taylor) but then, they send an over the hill LB (Vrabel) and a largely over-rated backup QB (Cassel) to the Chiefs for a 2nd round pick. In addition, they cleared a ton of cap space from that trade. hmm, what a concept, add draft picks, clear cap space! Wow, how on earth did they ever manage to win all those super bowls without splurging every cap dollar they could??? Maybe, it's more about the attitude you create within the organization than it is about THE MONEY! an attitude of shrewdness, an attitude of accountability at every position from owner down to punter. No, they must have just gotten lucky all these years.
