I've said my peace. Nay on the new uniforms.

When I was a little kid in NJ growing up, I started rooting for the Redskins almost exclusively because of the unis.
And let us remember what happened when they busted out the burgundy on burgundy scheme....

We will never have a winner until we put the gold back in the uniforms. Bring back the gold pants!

The problem with the Redskins color scheme is that currently the white tops and burgundy pants look great... and the burgundy tops with white pants... don't
In the old days the yellow helmets with burgundy tops and gold pants looked great... yellow helmets, white tops and gold pants did not.

I want the current helmet, the current burgundy jerseys, and the old-school gold pants. When we have to wear white tops, they can go with the burgundy pants.

Just as an alternative, what about adding the gold pants but changing the stripes to the way they are now, with two wide stripes, one white and one burgundy?

That's fine too, I just don't understand why they consistently eschew gold for white in the uniforms. Did the team colors get changed to B&W when I wasn't paying attention?

This is the only thread that made any kind of sense. Our team colors are Burgundy and Gold not Burgundy and White or Black or Burgundy on Burgundy

.
Every team now incorporates Black in their uniforms these days. Do we want to be like every other team and do the same? It's bad enough that the game day experience at FedEx is no different than any other stadium, now we have people that want us to look like every other team.
I guess when you play mediocre, you should dress the part. Uniqueness doesn't seem to be hip enough for some people.

Colt Brennan made our uni's look pretty good in preseason especially against the colts and jets. JC not so much.

Tampa Bay's uniform change helped but so did drafting Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks on their defense (and Lynch, Barber, etc). So, let's draft two dudes just like that and then change our uniforms. Sound like a plan?
I'd like to see them go back to gold pants but not yellow-gold. I think a darker burgundy would work too. It's hard to part with the helmet emblem. It's still cool after all these years.
I have to say that I do believe that a uniform can play a part in your team's psyche. If people don't think that this game isn't affected by psychology and emotion, you're plain dumb. Will it win a championship? No. But if you are wearing goofy looking uniforms, I'm sure it affects something.

A few years ago, I think it was the 70th anniversary season, they wore throwback unis with gold pants. But the pants weren't really throwbacks, they were made of a material that had a metallic sheen, like the silver pants the Pies wear.
These are
NOT acceptable to me.
I don't mind the yellow-gold ones, but what I really want are those seen here:
The rest of the uniform, I want to remain as is.

the burgundy pants need to be ousted. They look like something from a Shakespeare play. Bring back the gold pants to use as alternative to white.

The unifiorms are great now! We have to understand that there is a thing called tradition! The Redskins are one of the elite franchises in NFL history. The Bears haven't changed, Raiders, Steelers, Cowboys, Giants, Packers, Colts, Jets, Dolphins, Vikings, Chiefs, 49ers, Browns, etc., all have been Champions! Even the Saints, Lions and Cardinals have kept their originals...because it is tradition.
All teams have tweaked their uniforms a little since the early 1900's, but you keep your general make-up of who you are. The teams in need of a change were teams such as the Seahawks, Patriots, Broncos, Bengals, Eagles, the 70's and 80's Chargers, Rams and the 90's Falcons. Teams that reverted back to their old unis are the Chargers and Jets...because that is who they are...but the Broncos, Seahawks, Rams and Bengals were just plum ugly. If you notice, the only teams that play with uniforms over and over again, are your expansion teams, i.e., Titans, Jags, Texans, Ravens, even the Falcons...with one team being Champs...the Ravens who were really the Cleveland Browns then.
Burgundy and Gold is an awesome color scheme! And the Skins have worn them well...My favorite are our dark tops with the white pants. We will be Champions again...soon! Mark my words...

The Redskins always maintained that those were "composite" uniforms, incorporating elements of multiple uniforms from the past.
It's true that the Redskins never wore the shiny pants with the spear helmet, but the early Redskin teams (1937-1938) had very shiny jersey numbers. So it's not like its
completely without basis.
I love the 70th anniversary uniforms, and absolutely believe we should be wearing them full time, with a few minor tweaks. First, I'd use the prototype that Darrell Green modeled before the season (it has an extra stripe on the sleeve, which I like better). Second, I'd lose the spearhead on the shirt sleeve and the pants stripe - I think it's unnecessary. Otherwise, these are pretty much perfect:
But while that is my dream uniform, the only thing I really need to be satisfied is the pants need to be gold. They can be yellow-gold or gold-gold, shiny gold or a dull gold, whatever. Just make them gold.

Either you've only been following football since 2005 or you have a very loose definition of the word "original". Where I come from, these aren't the same uniforms:

That's Penn State wearing royal blue instead of navy, and if you look closely, numbers on their helmets. I wonder if there even is a team that's never changed their uniform.

If you read my post fully, you would have seen I stated that all teams have tweaked their uni's from the early 1900's. But for the most part, all the teams that I mentioned kept their uniforms pretty consistent for at the least the past 50 years or more. Which includes all who were CHAMPIONS at one point or another.
The Redskins has had three changes in history...early 1937's uni's with the burg helmets, top and gold pants, the spear helmet uni's into the 40's and 50's, the Redskin red tops and yellow pants of the late 60's and early 70's and then parlayed into our current uni's of the 80's...until.
History!!!

Count me out.

I think this idea has real merit. you can always go back to the old uni's for special occasions. How about going more old school like a deeper bronze-gold, like Notre Dame has for the helmet and have a darker burgundy, where it is almost black. Then have a Native American artist design a new logo to give them the respect that is due.
Two of my favorite uniform changes are Tampa and Seattle. They both went with darker more serious colors.

About Penn State... I thought they wore plain white pants...
Anyway, what if the Redskins had gold pants and burgundy tops at home and gold tops with burgundy pants away? I think it'd work.

Um, no.
The Washington Redskins entered the NFL in 1932. The Redskins have had a plethora of uniform designs since 1932.

I like all the uni's from 56-73. 94 was kinda cool but its more about it being different but staying familiar.

The Redskins has had a tad more than three. I've detailed the helmet history in a blog entry:
