bah, it's all a ploy. It's a ruse, they want him to think that so they can "restructure" his contract, or get him for cheap on the next one. I think he will be here, but I doubt if all four will be, I think someone has to go.

This is really solid logic by our FO. The kind that has reigned here for the past 10 years.

If this should happen, and it would not surprise me one bit, it basically means that the FO is run by idiots.

Let one good player go and expect an aging veteran, who has been injured a lot, hold on to one of the most impotant spots on the D.

This team just find new and improved ways to create needs. It's just bafling.

OK. I assume that his is La Canfora's delusion. It would be insane. However...we shall see.

No but. You are by your own admonition what we we knew you were. Nobody can take you seriously around here.

Somebody in Redskin Park might though ...

Carlos Rogers sucks.

Springs is 10x the player Rogers is, though too often hurt.

However, I would still prefer a shut down corner some of the time than the mediocre player that Rogers is all of the time.

Yeah, this is a "wait n see" deal. I can see them doing this to make Springs feel good about himself and wanted by the Redskins so he can restructure his deal. I agree with DEHog, this would prove to me that Dannyboy is making the decisions.

Roy, I don't think any GM or HC in his right mind would want to come work here if this whole get rid of Rogers and keep Springs thing is true.

A GM like Casserly or a head coach like Spagnoulo might be great but Casserly was let go and Spagnoulo has already siad no once.

Here is Casserly's view on free agency (which seems 180 degrees from what Dannyboy actually did):

"Casserly, who spent 23 years with the Redskins before being fired by Snyder in 1999. ''You can only acquire so many big-money players. The draft gives you guaranteed cheaper players"

a few moments in time may very well get rogers....on his way out.
who then will be the fourth corner ide could come back.... and to plug some holes with less depth makes sense for the defense.

I accept that the dropped ints are very game killing and as most agree that rogers was a pretty well rounded corner, but certianly not a shut down cover guy.

the skins hit the draft and FA to get d-line, o-line, and depth at line backer,
rogers may leave or stay and be inconsistant we have smoot and springs,
the defense starts in the trenches,

need two starting OLBs, not depth. Washington is done! He is no longer a good let alone great LB. McIntosh was benched by the end o f the season.

Like I said it’s still early to say this is going to happen. But remember this is a business, and the Skins have to start thinking about Rogers. On the surface it’s seem like a no brainer to let Springs go (money wise) because of the cap hit. But we are noit purvey to the goings-on at Redskins Park. The Skins are in a good situation when it comes to Rodgers, they have Spring and Smoot under contract…My guess is they want to retain Hall so the dilemma is do you spend the money on Hall or Rodgers. You can’t trade Hall or Springs but you can trade Rodgers or Smoot…I think it’s obvious who had more trade value.
Part of being a great organization is knowing who and when to deal. I know we all love Rogers but you have to take emotion out of it.

Rogers and Hall should be starters. Springs/Smoot are nickel/dime if Springs takes a cut. If not, we can run three safety sets with Green, Horton, LL to cover down on typical dime packages.

I agree we should keep the secondary and fill the defense with some depth especially at dline $$$$$$$$$ got to be the factor otherwise

Makes no sense to throw away Rogers. CBs are rare, and the Redskins have four who are at least adequate, judging Smoot to be the weakest of the four. But still, four respectable CBs is great.

what if they did draft a free saftey and to drop springs. that would leave smoot hall and rogers. thats one # 1 corner and 2 # 2 corners. and something like 4safties

I thought the safety craving was done and over with, we need line personnel both sides. Rogers isn't going anywhere.
