I'll be praying for you and your family Buges.

Why can't we cure cancer? What are we studying in Med schools??
How to lose weight, How to cure erectial dysfunction, How to turn artistic kids into mindless sheep with anti-depressants, honestly we can clone people, we can perform sex changes but we can't kill cancer what the heck.

Just dreadful when you have to bury your child. Yes, it should be the reverse. Thoughts and prayers to the Bugel family.

Reminds me, again, that human beings play this game that we watch.

We also can't cure the common cold yet ;)

Cancer is certainly one of the most researched and studied disease states in medicine, but it happens that cancer is just the most complicated disease state in medicine.

We spend 11 billion a year on cancer research in the United States, the most on any disease family (though imho it should be a lot more).

The National Cancer Institute, one of the 20 institutes in the NIH, receives roughly 5 billion a year of the 28 billion in funding the NIH gets (more than 1/6 of the total NIH funding).

It's just that there are a host of both genetic and environmental factors to consider with cancer. Lots of undiscovered molecular pathways and interactions. It's complex.

When people say "It's not rocket science" they should be saying "It's not oncology." We've already put a person on the moon, after all.

Cancer's not "a" disease either. Neither is the "common cold." Hence there is not a single cure.
