That Giants team that made it to the Superbowl was not very good.
The Giants front seven were beyond fierce. Their offensive line was quiet but quite solid. They had a pretty good RB by committee and a good WR, good TE (and surprising back up when Shockey broke his leg). The Giants didn't have superstars on offense, but they had competently solid offense. If can't see that their D, especially the line, was elite, then I don't know what else to say. Eli didn't do too bad in the home stretch, but I would give the consistancy to their D.
They still weren't a very good team. Overachievers in the clutch, maybe, but one of the worst NFC teams to make it to the Superbowl since. . .the last time the Giants were there.
My impression of Farve "the comeback king", is not great.
He's had great games, a few great seasons and many comebacks.
But how many INTS.
The one thing everyone seems to over look, is the reason he is the "comback king"
If he didn't throw those two ints in the first half, he wouldn't have to score three TD's in the second half to make the comeback.
Last year he did great as a QB. I was thinking it only took him 38 years, to learn how to check the ball down. Before that it was almost always going for the deepest WR, open or not. Not great play by a QB IMO. But by doing that almost his entire career, it was hit or miss. INT's or TD's no well managed games untill last year.
Wonder if that was the new coaches rule? Maybe the new coach over FINALLY got it threw his head to check it down if it's not there.
Anyway sure Faver has had his moments.
But who wouldn't after being the starting QB for that many years and never missing a start!!!
I'll take my chances with JC. You let him be our starter for that many years, he will have many highlights also.

I don't buy they got lucky. They did beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl...managing to do what no one else did last year.
That's the same Patriot team that laid that 52-7 whupping on our Redskins.
I don't think much of Eli, but the Giants have a pretty solid team. Besides QB, there's no real weakness on the team (even DB played well last year).

I've illustrated my point. I know they are not the most prolific team in the league, but they played consistantly on the road (and pretty consistantly at home, which sucked) and they won the Super Bowl, handling the almost 19-0 Super Bowl losing Patriots.
...any given Sunday....
RIP #21 Sean Taylor. You will be loved and adored by Redskins fans forever!!!!!
GSPODS:
The National Anthem sucks.
What a useless piece of propagandist rhetoric that is.
In the playoffs, game on the line with enough time to win it, and what happend?
Anyone remember his last game last year?
Interception.
He froze like a block of ice. Literally. The guy's from Mississippi and it was below zero at the start of the game. I don't know where you're from, but I'm from Michigan and below zero's frollicking COLD! When I was at the U of Michigan one day the high was -5. I had a scarf wrapped around my head so there was just a tiny slit where my eyes were so I didn't walk into a tree or traffic. I had to stop and cover them every so often because my eyes got so cold. And I'm FROM Michigan, he's from Mississippi. I know he played in Green Bay for a lot of years, but not when it was THAT cold.
Hail to the Redskins!

Come on man, the weather? Really? Dude threw a pick, it's a valid point ... and lest anyone forget, last year was a spectacular one but Farve posted QB ratings of 72.7 and 70.9 the 2 seasons before that, so anyone who'd get him would be betting that two of his past three seasons were flukes. That's not a gamble I am willing to make.

Let's say we felt we had a Super Bowl quality team, we could get him and he wouldn't bust our cap, which are all consistent with my point. The standard isn't which year you're betting on of the last 3, the standard is if he or JC are more likely this year to take us all the way. I'm a supporter of JC, but I'm not convinced he will be a great QB. I think it's possible and I'm backing him, but Brett Favre is only 38 and coming off a great year. This year and this year only? Any good money's on Brett in that choice.
On the weather, I'm going by my personal exprience which included going down into the single digits. When it went that far below zero, it wasn't just colder to me, it was a different world of cold. Have you ever been where it's that cold? I know you're from Ohio, just asking. In the end, maybe it's an excuse and maybe it's legit, but our own experiences are all we have to go on.
Hail to the Redskins!

The cold is absolutely a valid point. for cris sake, baseball pitchers put on a bloody jacket when on the bench on a balmy 70 degree night just to keep their muscles warm. So of course sub arctic cold will effect your ability to throw, especially when the difference between a completion and an interception can be measured in inches and fractions of a second.
As for downplying Favre's career.....I want some of what yer smokin (or maybe not). Bret Favre is easily one of the top 10 QB's of all time, and in the top 5 during his playing time, and a lock for the Hall of Fame.
And talk about longevity? NOBODY can touch the guy when it comes to his incredible durability.
Keep in mind something else here....The Packers didn't exactly have a powerhouse team supporting Favre a lot of the time. For at least half of those years, Bret Favre was the Packers.
Going back to 1990, I'd take Favre over anybody except maybe Marino or Elway.
Given Favre's turnovers (Which usually kills QB's numbers), he still holds his own with the greatest in history, and IMO in the Top 3 of his era.

Agreed! I don't think Fios's going to be swayed by your and my agreement though, I mean we ALWAYS agree on EVERYTHING.
