A couple of points here to remember...

1. Fact. Caldwell isn't signed. We only have so much cap space. As fleetus pointed out, how much will Caldwell want and how will that cap number effect other needs.

2. Fact. Zorn and Cerrato already stated in a presser at the combine that Mix is in the 'mix' and will get a legitimate look.

3. Fact. Both Zorn and Cerrato stated in that same presser they will most likely look to the draft for a receiver.

4. Fact. There has been little interest in any of the free agent receivers to date by this team, and I don't care what the media speculates. They may look for a bargain in another week or so, but don't count on some big name WR coming in.

I know it's fun to sit around at our keyboards and say, let's do this or let's do that, but in reality, only the coaches know what they have and what they want or need. Mix and Caldwell came in late, but were used sparingly. Until Caldwell is signed, he's just another mediocre free agent. Based on what we've actually heard from the organization, I think the chances are pretty good they'll add a receiver in the draft.

I'd actually prefer a drafted receiver that they can lock up long term verses a mediocre free agent they could sign for a year or two. Remember, after Caldwell led the Patriots in receiving in 2006, they cut him and went out and traded for and signed about 4 new receivers; Moss, Stallworth, Welker and Kelley Washington. Why? I'd say, because although Caldwell was productive, they recognized he was average at best and wanted better talent. My 2 cents
