It would be nice to see how well Reed (and Landry) would play with a good pass rush.

Carter has been better than I thought he would be this year, but I doubt many Offensive coordinators lose sleep thinking about how to shut him down. And he is by far our best pass rushing starting DL. He has 10.5 sacks. I doubt the rest of the DL (starters and backups) have 10 combined.

Smoot has just been playing some insanely good football these past few games. So has Springs. Landry and Reed both had good games last night.

Almost half the starters are backups and you are questioning Reed?

Come on guys! Let us start from the following premise:

The Redskins are playing with heart and determination notwithstanding the fact that half of their starters are backups.

I am proudly the driver of the Todd Collins and Reed Doughty bandwagon. As Joe said yesterday, "they are taking me on a wild ride".

What else did you want or expect? Cheer on people, cheer on, enjoy -with- the team.

I really think it's too early to decide on Doughty. He's been a back-up, plus he's got no starting XP. It's not like we brought an overall 6th pick in and threw him into the mix. Give him time to mature and then decide IMO.

Agreed.

For starters, just look at the names of four of the top five top tacklers from the 22-10 victory: Reed Doughty, Khary Campbell, Leigh Torrence, Anthony Montgomery. Who are those guys?

And that 36-year-old quarterback? Todd Collins? He starts his first game in 10 years and completes only eight passes - yet still outperforms Eli Manning.

And was that rookie free agent Stephon Heyer playing right tackle and helping hold seven-time Pro Bowler Michael Strahan to no sacks and only one quarterback hurry?

I like Doughty, I'm glad he's playing well considering the way he had to come into the game the previous week. Good for him. Starter though? Maybe so, if he can just fine tune some things and gets playing time from now until next pre-season. Big names don't necessarily mean anything on the field anymore (with some exceptions of course) so he can pan out to be a great safety in our system. Now if we can get a shutdown safety back there for next year, I'm all for it, but if its just Doughty, he's got my support. Lemme scratch that last one, I'm supporting whoever is sporting the burg/gold. Go Skins and lets make Peterson wish he was back with the Sooners.

Barring any major talent coming in, Landy's 4.3 40 will make him a free safety. To NOT use his speed to our advantage is silly. The ONLY reason he wasn't this year is b/c of ST. Now that the unfortunate murder has taken ST away from us, I sincerely hope that he's gonna be a true free safety like ST was.

Yes, I also noticed one play Doughty was turned away from the ball and got away with one. However, I did see him nearly flatten Eli Manning on a blitz and break a few things up. I think he's a smart player and very instinctual. I think Reed Doughty could develop into a really good saftey, strong or free.

I believe the reason they drafted him was to develop him to start in the event the Sean Taylor was to leave via free agency or if he was franchise tagged and held out/demanded a trade. Doughty was a very accomplished safety in college but at a smaller school. Lots of raw ability. Doughty, I believe, reminds Joe Gibbs of his old reliable safefy Mark Murphy. Having a "short season" to hone his skills should set him up nicely for next season. I'm happy so far with him as a starter.

In free agency next year, I'd like to see the Skins patch holes on the OL, add an OLB, score a taller WR, and we sorely need a pass rusher or run stuffer on the DL. Oh, and like I've been saying on this board since the draft, we need a young QB to develop for the future. Maybe next year's draft or Sam Hollenbach. I was very disappointed in Jordan Palmer.

ST, you continue to LIVE in our HEARTS..... Landry, you will be the next biggest Hitter for the Skins.....

Gotta give Doughty time, as I said before. It took ST 2-3yrs before he became the superstar he was, and he was quite sought after in the draft. Not everyone comes out of college like Peterson, especially on defense.
