Joebag.. brutha.. I've always been one to get on the players myself but I think this year we've seen some disgusting play calling and unbelievable clock management (or vice versa). Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Al send the plays from the box to Joe who than sends it in to JC and then he has to call the play in the huddle? What if Joe disagrees and then he has to discuss it with Al? Also, we can't forget the 4 plays at the goal line where we seemed like a high school team and we couldn't even score? I do blame the coaches when its obviously them making the mistakes. However, when we can't make catches, blocks, or tackles (like my best friend #22 who believes in bumping people) than I do agree that its the "professionals" fault. Man, we better play mistake free on Sunday because I won't get mad if lose playing the best we can, but I'll be really ticked off if its because of mistakes by the coaches and/or the players.

Bear in mind that Joe Gibbs I didn't have to contend with the 24 hour amateur analysis offered by the Blogosphere. I suspect that plenty of this kind of tittle tattle was simply filtered out by the time the press of the day got something to write about. It was easier for NFL organisations to manage the news agenda in those days. The demand for time with players and for instant soundbites is fuelling a lot of this stuff, in my opinion.aswas71788 wrote:I'm old enought to remember Gibbs first tenure with the Redskin vividly and I don't rmember that kind of internal fighting going on then.
In short - there is nothing new or revolutionary here - it's just that we get to hear about it these days.

Whoever it is that has the keys needs to give it up coz whatever he's doin ain't werkin. The last game was disgusting, even with the win, we tried absolutely everything to give the game away.. Sad part was the defense towards the end was starting to do the same thing, it's contagious whatever it is that's happening. Two busses, or Two Planes.. Keep the O and the D separated, keep the quarantine till it cures itself. Injuries or no injuries, we need to adapt and make best use of what's available.

No doubt that there've been some blunders by the coaches. Here, I was speaking specifically to whether the offensive coaches need to monitor the players in practice. My answer is no, the players are professionals, they should know how to practice by now.
As for the playcalling and clock management, I used to be on the 'Joe Gibbs can do no wrong' train, but I think I'm slowly starting to see the light. Clock management is a big one, but you can't blame the coaches for not getting the rock in the end zone against the Giants.

Yes you can. It was a terrible call. Running the SAME play two times in a row made absolutely no sense. After the Giants blew up the play on 3rd down I want to know what made the coaches think that the same exact play was going to work on 4th down. With our 2nd string running back no less. As usual it was overly conserving play calling that didn't work.

The O-Line is banged up, but trying to survive 2 major injuries and multiple minor injuries. I give the coachs credit for keeping what we have intact, and they seem to be getting progressively better. Will they reach the 2005 lines level, probably not. Now with that said there is a pattern of underachieving offensivley since Joe came back, and the jury is still out on Al Saunders. We need to go downfield more early to make the play option work, and open up the running game. What have we got to lose, they already have thrown dirt on us this week, we could be a dangerous team taking a few shots down field, get Moss's confidence, and get the ball to McCardell for god's sake...
