You can't be seriously adding Romo to that list of QBs, can you? He hasn't even started a full season's worth of games. He is totally overrated at this point in his career.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Chad Johnson got a minimum one-year contract extension Thursday as part of a reworked contract that substantially increases his pay and could keep him with the Cincinnati Bengals through 2011.
The three-time Pro Bowl receiver had been under contract through 2009. The new deal runs through 2010, with a club option for 2011, and would give him $10.75 million more than he would have made under the old contract, agent Drew Rosenhaus said.
These stupid discussions about players still under contract with other teams are a waste of space.

now that is just not fun

what does that have to do with anything - there are a lot of guys here who can make this happen - let's bring him in - we can start our own team and just play whoever thinks they can beat us - we don't need no stinkin' trade deadline stopping us from improving our team

Lets offer the Bengals 10th round draft pick and a bag of chips, also use our waive the trade deadline clause.

Actually, they're not related at all. Chad said so on a pre-season show last year.

Maybe not a Gibbs guy, but this isnt gonna be a Gibbs team when his contract is over.

Yea, if Chad is leaving the Bengals it will be for the next season. He doesn't fit here with his character. I'm not saying he's a bad guy, i mean character on the field. If he doesn't get the ball he'll probably have a fit and if he beefs wit JC because of it, I'm sure FEDEX FIELD will boo his azz straight back to Ohio.
GO SKINS !!!!!

He's not a "gibbs player". I wish some of you would shut up with that nonsense. There is no such thing. It's just some more bull that Skins fans say to make themselves feel good.
Add that to the list of stuff such as 2nd half adjustments.
Is it feasible to get Chad? Nope.
Would he be an instant upgrade and make this offense sing? No FREAKING DOUBT!
So please, get off of this high almighty we're too good for Chad bull. If you want a bunch of saints, go be a New Orleans fan or stop rooting for Taylor, Smoot, Carlos (likes to make it rain) and Jansen and Raybach for their romp-around trailer.

Yeah he'd help. But the Skins getting Chad Johnson is not realistic. And I know, portiz2skins, reality sucks. Reality requires semi-literacy.

Actually they are first cousins. Samari Rolle is there cousin as well. No seriously.

And this could just be a perfect example of how an open source project like Wikipedia can't be counted on to always be 100% correct.
Last year before the Cincy - Carolina game, Jay Glazer asked Chad about it and Chad basically said that it is and always had been a ruse.
I guess I have no knowledge that what Chad said during that interview was the ruse, but I have heard Chad say that they aren't related at all.
I guess none of that matters to the topic at hand though... which is Chad being 'available'... according to Bengals owner Mike brown this week, he isn't.
Get used to Marvin Lewis and Chad Johnson.
In the twisted, parallel universe of perception, they are headed out of Cincinnati.
But in the only opinion that counts, the one of Bengals president Mike Brown, he is happy with both and is keeping them around Paul Brown Stadium.
In a rare interview in the week leading up to Sunday's game in Buffalo and his team a disappointing 2-5, Brown told Bengals.com and The Cincinnati Enquirer that Lewis' job is safe and he has no intention of trading Chad Johnson.
Brown didn't talk about such issues as the future of Lewis' assistants or if he would try to shore up the defense via free agency. Instead he preferred to focus on a season he expected his club to make it to the playoffs but believes it has been derailed by injuries and can still be salvaged.
"He isn't going anywhere," Brown said of Johnson. "Chad Johnson is a tremendous football player. We're glad he's here. He's an integral part of what we do."
Lewis may be taking some heat, but certainly not in the corner office where Brown endorsed his coach in the second year of a five-year deal.
Asked if Lewis is safe and if Brown is happy with him, Brown said, "Yes and yes."
Rest of story
Don't know if that means much or anything, but that's the 'official' word out of Cincy this week.
I personally can't see any possible way that the Bengals can trade Johnson without eating more cap than it could possibly be worth... but I don't know Ocho's cap details to know for sure. If I get a chance, I'll look around and try post something more concrete.
I'm sure Mike Brown understands that.

Found info at this site:
http://cap.go-bengals.com/
I don't know if the numbers are accurate but it sure looks to me that they track cap info as dilligently as we do here, so I'm going to presume that it's very close to accurate.
... and according to their numbers... it would cost 9 MILLION DOLLARS to cut or trade Chad Johnson before the 2008 season.
Now... Redskin fans know that teams WILL sometimes inexplicably choose to fork out GROTESQUE amounts of money to NOT have a player's services, but that doesn't mean it's good business.
... and I don't think Mike Brown throws his money around like other owners who seem to have so little regard for fiscal RESPONSIBILITY as opposed to fiscal compliance.
But you never know... bottom line though... it'll cost the Bengals over 9 mil to trade ocho cinqo and not have him. At the very, very least... I would suspect that the Bengals would be looking for a player in return that had similar cap numbers that were going to be eaten by the OTHER team.
So if you want to talk about trading Santana Moss for Chad Johnson - go ahead.

i would rather sign alan faneca and draft a few wr's than try and pull off an unlikely trade for CJ.
