I thought the MNF coverage was great, and I really have no idea what you people are complaining about.
Charles Barkley was pretty decent in the booth and the rest of the TV team did a pretty nice job as well.
Just because they didn't spend the whole game drooling over the Redskins doesn't mean it wasn't a well called game.

I agree, the excessive cam shots of the booth was too much. The chatting was mediocre but bearable.

So what you're saying is that it wasn't a total tragedy and the ESPN execs shouldn't be dragged through the streets and then hung?

The execs at the Exceptionally Self-Promoting Network should be forced to watch their own miserable commentary on a video loop while listening to Barry Manilow ...

I guess I am alone here but I thought Jaws was very good. All he wanted to do was to break down the plays and the other two idiots wanted to talk about anything other than the game they were watching.
I did hate how they would show a small screen of the game when they updated the baseball score or when Charles was on camera but Jaws is one of the best and breaking down films and plays and he did a great job. Plus he gave Campbell props the entire second half.

Yep. My best friend is a Iggles fan and he was even pissed about the coverage. ESPN has sunken to new depths. It was awful and extremely biased. Jaws was okay but the rest of it was crap. Did they not know a game was going on?

I really hope people send ESPN a complaint about this.

I agree with that, I do like Jaworski

I also think you guys are going way overboard in your criticism. They gave the Redskins plenty of props all game long, especially touting the secondary and how much it has improved over last year. Of course, Philly's receivers make any secondary look better, but that's another story.
As far as Barkley, I think he's hilarious, but that's me. Also, TV is not about objectivity - it's about sales and entertainment, or more simply - MONEY. How many damn commercials did we have to wait through. So many times after kickoffs they could have let the drive start and I don't think that happened once.
This trend is not something unique to ESPN, news stations and other forms of journalism are all turning into entertainment. MNF booth is just one more extension to that. Deal with it, it's the age we live in.

dude during the challenge.. they showed the replay 3 times. and it was clear that the ball was coming out. and after the 3rd one. they went back to a shot of the booth and they started talking about god knows what.FanofallthatisGibbs wrote:I also think you guys are going way overboard in your criticism. I could care less if the booth is giving props to the Skins or not . If you saw the pre-game, only TJ picked the skins to win and in their 50 state poll results, NOT A SINGLE STATE PICKED THE SKINS. (So here's a big finger to all of those people, courtesy of Laron Landry.)
That said, I thought Jaworski was really annoying and couldn't get over being a homer and Eagles insider. I usually don't have a problem with him.
The worst was when he wouldn't shut up about declaring that Campbell was late on the throw for the INT. If he took 2 seconds to watch the replay instead of instantly calling JC out, he would have seen why the throw was late. There was an Eagle leaping in the air with hands up in front of Campbell. He couldn't throw the ball when he wanted.
It was kind of a slow game at times, so I don't really have any prob with Barkley in the booth. He's a funny guy.

I couldn't agree more with the opinions that the coverage and commentary sucked. Entirely too much time talking about Reid's family problems....milked the Barkley visit. I like Barkley, but it should have been a short visit, not an interview by Kornholio....and entirely too much video of the both. Too much Patriot, spygate talk.
I can usually tune these guys out....but when all you see is their mug and no football footage, it get's frustrating.
Kornholio is an idiot....they need to dump him and just have Tirlico (sp?) and Jaws do PBP and Color. KISS.....talk football....ideally about the teams on the field.

that definetly wasnt a fumble plain and simple.. it was easy to see that.. the ball moved for a second and he secured it again then his knee was clearly on the ground and the ball didnt squirt out till he was layin down.. so why would they harp on such an easy call.. I had no problem with that
ESPN is trying to make MNF more entertaining to the non-football fan, (eg: women).
Back when Howard Cosell was in the booth he was always interviewing tv and movie stars, singers and politicians. MNF had huge ratings because non-football fans watched.
ESPN figures the diehard football fan will watch no matter what is said in the booth. They are trying to get everybody else who's interested in anything other than football.
I personally thought Barkley was funny, and I love when the analyst pick against the Skin's because so long as Washington wins that plate of crow they have to eat gets that much larger.

My son had a mutt... a large lab/sheppard/collie/setter/yada-yada-yada mix. She had a great personality, and the most massive dog butt ever. She reminded me of Charles Barkley, mostly because of the butt, so, that's what I called her.
I miss that dog.

Coverage was a joke.........way too much focus on the stupid commentators or whatever.......I could give a rats butt who is calling the game and talking nonsense. I'd much rather watch what was happening on field, packages going in and out , substitutions et al, and the like.
Somewhere networks started focusing on the commentators for games instead of whats really the reason fans are tuned in and thats for the GAME.......commentators should merely not annoy the viewers as the game itself is dynamic enough........they should stick to calling the plays or providing insight that is specific to the players on the field........who cares about the commentators celebrity status........last night alot of the time the camera was focused oin the stuppid booth and would break away for plays.....a few times I thought I was going to miss plays cuz there was so much focus on the stupid booth!
