The above is plain old loser talk.
If you've ever competed at anything (Madden, anyone?), you know bragging rights mean a lot, especially among your boys.

Bragging rights is everything!!! I love my bragging right and they can used to demoralize the competition!

You are hoping, on some level, that the team you root for loses because it validates the pick. Now, people can get up-in-arms and say "I'm still going to root for them, I still love them" blah blah blah but all that means is the traitors mostly want the Redskins to win. In this context, a loss is beneficial to them. And what I find truly sad about this is that there is NOTHING involved except bragging rights. This is the least understandable forum in which to pick against the Redskins. If money were involved I would actually consider that a mitigating factor. But since you get not even a single dime for this, picking against the Redskins is inexcusable.
This post makes far too much sense in order to be understood by some ...

You won BECAUSE you picked your team every time... no traitor has ever won
jack in Hognostications...
Bet against your team all you want... you're just proving that you care less about your team than you do about winning a completely free, onus-less pool. And if you think that you're saying ANYTHING else by doing so, you're just rationalizing to suit your personal course of treason.
... but karma can't be cheated or fooled.

Hedging One's Bets to justify picking against one's own team is the lowest form of sports fan ...
If there is no prize of value to be won, there is no justification for picking against one's own team.
If there is a prize of value to be won, there is no justification in placing a bet against one's own team. In this case, if one truly believes one's own team will not win on a given week, one should simply not place the bet. If the almighty dollar is of higher value than loyalty to one's team, the sentiment speaks volumes about the character of an individual.

But, but, but, but they're just trying to win Fios. They want to win the pool. They are better than you for not letting their heart get in the way.

Funny how the traitors never take home the Hognostications belt...
Karma.

The only part of the post I must disagree with. Money should never be more important than loyalty. The courage of one's convictions should not be for sale at any price. Other than that, you hit the nail on the head.

5 wrong going into MNF.
I'm interested to see, based on all the heat the "traitors" have gotten for their pics, how they stacked up against the "real" fans.
This might make for an interesting experiment for the remainder of the season.

Several close and surprising games will make the difference this week, e.g., Cin v. Cle, Ari v. Sea, Det v. Min, among others ...
It is the unpredictable NFL, folks.

Put Bram Weinstein on the list of traitors as he picked the Eagles to win tonight. I really do not like that guy.

It must feel pretty awful: bet against your own team and be proven wrong.
It feels great NOT to be on the DARK SIDE. Enjoy

Despite what anyone says, I'm more than happy to have lost this pick.
I'm glad they went into Philly and beat up on them. It was a beautiful thing. I love you all!

Of course you are... what else would you say here? That you were happy the Redskins won, but bummed that you got the pick wrong?
I mean since this all boils down to betting in a manner that you think will win you the pool, then you have to be disappointed to some degree. Otherwise if you're not, logic dictates that you really don't care what the outcome of the pool is.
And that was your whole rationale for betting against the team in the first place...
So enjoy the small modicum of disappointment in a Reskins win that you have no matter how vehemently you deny it. You deserve it.

Congrats to Kearney420 (14-2)!!!

The
weekly winning percentagesare -incredibly- high !!!
Kearney420 won with a convincing 14 2 score. Second place went on a tie to four other posters. 12 4 for a 75% success rate !!!
17 mere mortals found themselves tied in third place at 13 5. And 16 other posters tied at 14 6 in fourth place.
The
season winning percentagesare:
HOOKBASSGA and REDEEMEDSKIN (temporarily

) sharing first place at 26 6 with an 81.3%, followed closely by Kearney420 in second place at 25 7 at 78.1% and three posters tied in third place at 24 8 at 75%
IF these percentages hold, and it is a BIG if, they would be higher than any others held up in previous years. It isreally too early in the season to say. A lot can and will happen in the remaining 15 weeks.
Keep it up guys!
Please compara our scores with those of the ESPN "experts":
Week 2:
Theismann 12-4
Salisbury 9-7
Hoge 9-7
Jaworski 11-4
Schlereth 11-5
Allen 8-8
Mortensen 8-8
Golic 8-8
Season up to now:
Theismann 23-9
Salisbury 21-11
Hoge 21-11
Jaworski 23-7
Schlereth 22-10 (I share this score

)
Allen 14-18
Mortensen 18-14
Golic 17-14
