HOGNOSTICATIONS 2007: NFL Week 1

Talk about the AFC, NFC, the NFL Draft, College Football... anything football that has no Washington Football Team relevance.

Redskin in Canada wrote:Some really keen and great Hognosticators are still missing. PLEASE remember that the deadline is Thursday 4 PM !!!

Some clarification please - the deadline is 6 PM on Thursday for this week's games AND the tiebreaker is based on the combined points scored in the last game on Monday and not both games?

By the way
Baltimore is an -awful- team playing on the ROAD away from home.

I'm with Fios and I'm sure some others - that Ravens team is not that good but "awful"
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

I am supposed to scare you. If I say 4 PM everybody might get them on time. If I say 6 PM, it would mean that they read the front page of Hognostications and they do not need this reminder.

Yes.

I'm with Fios and I'm sure some others - that Ravens team is not that good but "awful"
Historicaly, Baltimore has a poorer track record abroad than at home. It is a good team but Cinci is better in Cinci. Sorry to break the news too late to some of you. I am sure we will remind one another in the 2nd Hognosticatons thread next week.

52 sets of picks in so far, and they're all posted in the pool section.

Remember that today (Thursday) is the last day for week one picks, so get them in if you haven't already.

... and just a quick note... some of you have sent picks more than once. You only need to submit your picks once unless I post here that I have updated the selections and for some reason your picks aren't on the pool pages. Sending multiple submissions means that I'm just going to pick one and throw the other(s) out.

Thanks, and good luck to everyone.
Sean Taylor was one of a kind, may he rest in peace.

As I posted my picks and then read FFA's post I am reminded about how bad I was last year and how after using the defensive and offensive stats I realized I was no better off - oh well, never up, never in! - I think the crystal ball has the edge this week

We are still missing at least two worthy top 10 opponents from last year:

Where are JPM and airhog? :hmm:

Good, bad and better news.

The good news are that 48 of us got it right last night.

The bad news are that 12 of you got it wrong last night. (What were you guys thinking?)

The better news are that we have 60 warm bodies participating in the Hognostications this year!

Regards,

RiC

The logic works beautifully. Can't you see guys that from the first sentence is supported entirely by the second???

LOL. I sense someone is feeling a little nervous. :) You are actually going against a guy who knows about football. The only reason you won the previous year is because I did not bother to play.

Two quick things...

1) A few of you sent picks in AFTER sending in initial picks in... please don't... and don't expect any changes that you might have made to take hold. it's hard enough keeping up with everything around here, I'm not making multiple entries for people. Decide on your picks, make them, and live with them... thanks.

2) i received a few entries after the deadline cut off, but seeing as it's the first week and there was little advance warning, I'm going to let these people into the pool.

HOWEVER, these people all entered picks AFTER the deadline and AFTER the Colts game, so if you think that i'm 'giving you' the Colts game.... fuggedaboudit.... the people whose picks were received AFTER Thursday have been entered, but your selection for game one was changed to new orleans and you eat a loss for being late with the pick - sorry. That's the only way to be fair to everyone involved.

Cheers and good luck today.

Even a stopped watch gets it right twice a day.

We have 64 Hognosticators as of today. The percentages of correct Hognostications is quite high so far. Few posters are below 66% as of Monday morning, which is a very good result if you can keep it up consistently over the rest of the season.

Good luck with the two remaining games tonight!

We hand behinds at the -end- of the season. Like at the end of the -two- past seasons in a row.

That is why we really, really like you.
