Brunell is better than next years Tyler Ecker!!! He is worse than undrafted free agents out of UMBC. Please dont give a veteran QB away for a ham sandwhich.
Having two veteran QBs is great when you dont have a young QB that is even ready to be groomed...I.e. Little Palmer had one of the worst outings ive ever soon by a Qb tonight... a pick a fumble 2 completions? thats not even practice squad material
We'd be lucky to get a ham sandwhich for Brunell.
As long as he is on the team he will provide a temptation for Gibbs to play him if Campbell struggles. Get Brunell as far away from this team as possible. As others have said, if Campbell goes down the season is done anyway so who cares who the backup is.
If Campbell goes down it doesn't really matter if Collins or MB04 takes over because our season will have been flushed down the toilet.
With the high expectations we have for the defense, do you really think the season would be over. Championships are won with a great Defense. IMO, I think we would still have some chance to make the playoff.

If MB04 is asked to handle any more than 2 games, we're screwed.

I didn't say that anyone would take that trade. It would be stupid on thier part. But us giving up MB for a fifth rounder and relying on Collins and Palmer as backups is even more stupid.
Say what you will about Brunell. You are entitled to hate the guy. But if Campbell goes down for four weeks Brunell is the only other guy on the roster who gives us a chance to win.
If this turns out to be true, it would be nice to recoup the 4th or 5th rounder we gave to the Jets for Kendall.
IMO, between Collins and Brunell, at this stage, it comes down to playability, and Collins has simply outplayed Brunell so far this year. JC has probably already soaked up about as much as he can learn from Brunell.
I'm fine with it either way, whether we keep MB as a back-up or trade him. I honestly think Collins will be fine and couldn't be any worse than Brunell at this point. No player in the entire NFL knows Saunders system better than Collins, that's why they brought him in. If Saunders and Gibbs are happy with Todd, then I am too.

He's busy bumping favorable "tailgate for 8" posts, and that can be time consuming
The TRO Brunell Appreciation Department (TROBAD) does not respond to rumor and speculation.
EDIT: We will say this, at least some teams are asking for Brunell. How many teams are lining up to take Collins off our hands?
I'm not nearly as anti-Brunell as many of the people on this site but I'm not going to knock Collins either, he's outplayed Mark in the preseason. I'll grant there are some mitigating factors to take into account but Collins has done enough to earn the backup slot.
Not long ago, there was a report that the Redskins were talking to the Falcons about a trade that would have sent veteran backup quarterback Mark Brunell to Atlanta. The move would have reunited Brunell with Bobby Petrino, who was an assistant coach during part of Brunell's time with the Jaguars.
Now, WUSA-TV reports that the Redskins are talking to the Seahawks about a possible trade of Brunell.
Citing sources close to Brunell, WUSA's 9SPORTS NOW says that a deal could be consummated within the next few days. Our friends at Rotoworld.com have confirmed that, for now, no agreement is in place. Rotoworld.com also reports that the Seahawks initiated the trade discussions.
The report follows a recent revelation that the Seahawks were one of the teams in the market for former Eagles backup Kelly Holcomb, who was eventually shipped to Minnesota, and it will fuel speculation that Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren would like to use current backup Seneca Wallace more extensively at other positions.
Our guess is that the 'Hawks would use Brunell as the understudy if/when starter Matt Hasselbeck gets injured during a game, and that Wallace would potentially become the starter if Hasselbeck is expected to be out for multiple weeks. Such an approach would allow the team to incorporate Wallace more fully into the weekly game plan as a receiver.
Wallace, by the way, recently signed an extension. But talk of the 'Hawks trading for a veteran quarterback didn't emerge until the Wallace deal was done. We wonder whether Wallace knew that this was coming, and whether he would have agreed to the new contract if he had known.
If Brunell goes to Seattle, he'd rejoin Holmgren, who was the coach of the Packers when Green Bay selected Brunell in round five of the 1993 draft. Brunell also would be returning to the town in which he starred for the Washington Huskies.
Mark's skill set may well fit better with the Seahawks West Coast offense than the Skins. He's still accurate short - remember the 22 straight completions last year verus the Texans - and he does a great job with game management. Seems to me that he's a bit out of place in the more vertical attack of the Air Coryell offense the Skins run. He just doesn't have the arm to zip it deep or the patience for plays to develop. The Hawks would be a much better fit than that Falcons and I hope for his sake the deal goes through. He's a great guy and deserves to finish his career no worse than 2nd on the depth chart.

From the discussions I have had with some team sources, the Mark Brunell trade possibility with Seattle was not started by the Skins.. His agent may have had some discussions with the Seahawks where Brunell might be interested in getting some more incentives in his contract should he be dealt.. He also would be a clear number 2 there and there is no word who the back-up to Jason Campbell is here.. Washington currently is not interested in trading Brunell according to my sources, and at this point, compensation discussed on their end doesn't appear to be high enough for the Redskins to change it's mind..
Joe Gibbs will meet with the media tomorrow and discuss..
