I agree and disagree, I don't think Taylor will redefine the position and I don't think Landry will either. But, I do think that Landry/ Taylor will redefine the position! Think about it, two stud safeties on one team!! I can't wait for the first four wide reciever set run against them! Or the first 3rd and long. But the best one, would be our offense racking up 28 points in the first half and force the opposing offense into passing the ball every play! That would make a great game!!!

Liked picking Landry, it was safe and we couldn't find a trade partner to drop down for more picks. It was a bit of a shocker which tells me the front office were really careful about tipping their hands. Kudos.

Very few players "redefine" a position, that is they change what you think a prototypical player should look like and how they should perform. I can think of only a few players off hand who have done so: Lawrence Taylor (speed rushing OLB), Randall Cunningham (super athletic QB), Sam Mills (a short but quick MLB), Antonio Gates (uber pass receiving TE built like a b-ball player), and the tandem of Michael Irvin/Alvin Harper (big rangy WRs favored over quicker, shorter ones).

Somewhere along the line scouts thought all QBs should be at least 6-4/6-5, big-bodied, and possess rocket arms. Peyton Manning is that type but so many great QBs didn't fit the mold.

For the Skins, I think of Monte Coleman, an undersized but speedy and instinctive OLB who played with the team for many years at a high level. Matt Turk was big for a big punter but I think his preceded by Reggie Roby in that regard. Joe Jacoby was a freak for a guard too, 6-6 and 300. In those days that was unusual, maybe unheard of for the guard spot. He later played RT I think.

Landry has definatley created a buzz for us Redskin faithful. I am going to be fair and just hope he has a good year. Its obvious he is very talented. I expect to see some rookie mistakes, but he will eventually get over them.
I actually think Landry will help give Taylor some discipline.

I don't know if anyone has seen this clip of LeRon Landry absolutely pummeling the QB when he was at LSU. I fully believe that these type of hits are going to be commonplace with LeRon Landry even in his first year with the Redskins. This poor QB gets steamrolled at high speed by Landry. Even though this is college ball, I really have a feeling that Landry will make a very smooth transition to the pro level.

I was also one of those who was livid when they picked Landry instead of picking defensive line help. We still need defensive line help badly, but someone sure picked a winner in Landry. It's obvious he's going to be very, very, good, if not outright great. It's hard to believe this guy has had so much impact in his first two games. His play reminds me of Darrell Green when he ran back a punt for a td in his first preseason game.

Rookie or not , how could he be worse than Archuletta or Jimoh?
hes going to be a bit of a liability in the beginning because of the different formations and motion in passing situations but he will finish strong,and l believe he is in the top 2 or 3 in the league as far as speed, that should help hide a few mistakes

Looks like play action got him a few times, nice recovery on the open field tackle on the tight end though (wasnt Heap, forgot who) and when l said "top 2 or 3 in the league as far as speed" , l meant at his position, just to clarify. Experience will correct any difficulty play action will give him but, expect him to get burned a few times early in the season.
