Im surprised LM can even get a word out with all that "stuff" in his mouth.
It's amazing how lifelike he is in person, he feigned "anger" each time I demanded to see where Danny plugs him in at night.

To be quite honest our LB corps is about the last unit that needs tweaking, imo.
(I assume you are referring to Fletcher as the other old guy.) Fletcher will prove to be the linchpin in the middle our D lacked last year and a great mentor to H.B. Blades. Blades, under Fletcher's guidance, will become a beast in the middle after Fletcher is done. Blades is the real deal. (I watched him play at Pitt. I am a Mountaineer and hate Pitt but Blades play was worthy of any fans respect. He was a steal in the draft for us this year.)
I think they brougt in Godfrey because he is so solid. He will be a good replacement while Washington is out. Don't forget, Godfrey wasn't brought in as a starter. Marcus owns the Strong side.

One thing is for certain, there is enough experienced vetran linebackers in the locker room that our "future" linebackers have a wealth of information at their disposal, lets hope they take advantage of it.
Truthfully, Godfrey knows that he will not start here unless something rediculous happens and he seems to be fine with that. Lamar on the otherhand was waiting around for his turn to get a crack, it just wasnt going to happen anytime soon.
The front office made the best decision for both of the players involved, just maybe not the team as a whole
l expect that Godfrey will not save anything on each and every opportunity he gets, this situation may not be optimal but it is a cheaper serviceable option for the team

Did anyone see Marcus on the Practice cam, he looked like he was hating every second he was missing honestly it looked like he was really miserable, I think when you bring in a Randall Godfrey it sends a message to everyone on the team that hey there are guys out there who are quality and can be brought in. When Marcus the Great gets back our LB's will be feared.

2-3 years and HB Blades and Rocky will be looking at their second
contracts..that is the way to build a team..people are griping about
Heyer getting his trial by fire..and now they are griping about Veteran depth.. it looks to me that three Vets out of 7 (?)on the roster..is the best of both worlds
New England has 6-7 LBs older than 30..and they think they are the strength of their team.

Linebackers with 1-2 years left still mean that they will be good for this year. Yes, don't plan your '09 Superbowl run around those guys, but if you need an upgrade for this season there is nothing wrong with signing a 31-32 year old player, or even a 34 year old who still has the skills and physique to make plays.
I'm convinced that the Madden games have ruined everyone's perception of what an "old" player is in the NFL. I remember people saying that we shouldn't have pursued John Abraham back in '04 (or maybe '05) because he was "on the downside of his career." He was 29-30 at the time. Not every player needs to be a young project. . .

Last time I checked, this isn't New England. All I'm saying is that you keep trying to buy a team, and you'll come up short. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe the Fletcher is a band aide for Blades to be molded. Ultimately, time will tell. With past experience, the FO and the coaches DO give us reason to doubt.

Fletcher is about 4-5 more tackles a game that are not done after missing the first time..
when it comes down to it this is a play for pay business..the old line about buying a team is nothing more than an easy colloquial
rant against the direction and way Joe Gibbs has bought into the Salary Cap manuveurs...
there is never one move this team makes that isn't
responded to by the automatic..mindless reactionary..impluse to look past the benefit and complain about cost

Does veteran Skins fan mean, "I haven't paid attention for the past three seasons"? Filling positions of need with the best possible player does not equal buying a team. Stop living in 2000. The team has been without a true middle linebacker for too long, a position that is crucial to Williams defense. Even Pierce was converted to middle linebacker. Fletcher is a tremendous addition and a marked improvement. If you see that as a band-aid move, I'm sorry, you don't know very much about this defense.
