This is an area that causes me significant concern. Although I hope this kid Heyer develops in to a good guard, I'm concerned about the rest of the league already game planning to rush the blind side even if Samuels is in there. In the Post today, there were a few comments by "talent evaluaters" from other NFL teams who were saying that the Redskins have a serious depth problem on the O-line, especially the left guard.
I fear that it's a similar situation to last year when our cornerbacks, Wright and Rumph, were so pathetic that the rest of the league would intentionally alter their game plan and go deep on us all day long, resulting in the Redskins giving up most gains of 20+ yards. They see a weakness, and exploited it. I'm concerned that they'll see the left side of our line as a HUGE weaknes, and game plan accordingly by blitzing all day long over on the left side. While Portis can defend one person, when they throw everything and the kitchen sink at that side, Portis can't stop all of them.
This is a problem area that I hope can be fixed in a hurry.

Ok, I'll rephrase that for you.
Why are you "not sure he will EVER be ready"? What do you see that Bugel doesn't?

I see our Qb getting creamed thats what I see. Plus our running game was non existent against second string defense. What positive signs are there?what indication that this Heyer will be good is there? Most good players show signs that there is talent. I have seen none.

Well god knows your evaluation of LaVar turned out to be 100% accurate

... the Steelers had the third best run D in the league last season, you really think an UNDRAFTED guy is going to come in and start popping holes right away? Good lord man, be rational.

I would say go to Redskins.com and listen to what Gibbs says on the matter.
Gibbs made a point, even went out of his way, to say the article this morning about Heyer was "grossly inaccurate". Said Heyer has played a half in two games and has
yet to give up a sack, against some all pro DE's mind you. So when you say that you see our QB getting creamed and blame that on Heyer, you are also grossly inaccurate, per Coach Gibbs. Just because YOU fail to see signs of talent doesn't mean others are blind as well.
So I don't know what you are looking at and I'm not sure what your evaluation qualifications are, but Gibbs and Buges think he's done a great job so far and I agree with them.

After looking at Heyers Bio and college career. It seems this guy has some raw talent. I have just been ticked that our starting qb has so far fumbled the ball twice, and just took a hard hit low resulting in a couple weeks out. After watching some Maryland film highlights he actually was very dominating in college. So there is much potential. Left guard is still a question mark though. Wade and Pucillo are definatley works in progress as well as Heyer. Of the Bunch it seems Heyer has the most room for growth.
As far as Lavar goes I still support him Fios. You may not like Lavar, but I still support him. He contributed while he was in Washington on the field and of the field. I hope he makes a comeback and finishes his career in Washington.

I'd say that Rypien only being sacked 9 times in '91 is pretty good proof that Joe did solve that problem.

They gotta make the correct adjustments.
Portis and Samuels account for just over 10 million dollars of capspace..
any offense missing that should be having a difficult time doing what they do best..or else why have them making all of that money..if things were smooth..things would be too easy..if you look around the league some of the best offenses struggled in game 2..it's no big deal
