I know. Mike Tice loves Kleinsasser, so I don't know why they wouldn't be able to keep him. On the other hand, since he is unrestricted, mabye Snyder will just outbid Minnesota...

Once again, I'm just relaying what the Post said...
I'm bored, I'm broke, and I'm back.

Who knows... but i think we beat the Kleinsasser thing to death...Anybody else have an opinion on the one free-agent that would turn around this team?

How about Ogunlye (whatever) from Miami? I know just playing on that lines makes him a little better than he really is, but he did have a bunch of sacks this year. In the few Miami games I even watched, he looked very dominant. No matter what, our fantasy pick would HAVE to be a d-lineman.
You'll always be remembered Sean. R.I.P.

I actually have been hearing a bunch about this guy lately, i think he's a restricted FA this year, which that didn't stop us last year but I'm sure teams will be watching out for us this year. He did have quite a few sacks last year. Could be a good possibility, although I think I would take my chances with Kearse. None the less He might be a good choice.

Weird that nobody else likes him. I could almost forget Ramsey if Manning came over.
I said "almost".

I still like Ted Washington, but I was talking about Young because Justice Hog was taking me to task over Ted's age and how much he had left in the tank - JH spoke in glowing terms about Young - might wanna ask him :)

I'm going to side with the legal beagle on this one. Ted's an older guy. We've had one too many "older guys" on defense. Even if you dump in a bottle of octane booster, that there tank is bound to run dry. Plus, he played the SB injured. Plenty of heart, to be sure, but how fast do you think he's going to heal from here on out ? Here's all of Ted's stuff. Look it over. What more could the man do ?

Alright...I know i'm gonna get a bunch of tomato's thrown at me for this but this is who i think should be the one Free-Agent we sign...

Warren Sapp

HOLD ON! DON'T PUSH THE "POST REPLY" BUTTON YET!

Here's my reasons..

1) Sapp is cocky as you all say, but it's not the kind of cockiness that will disrupt a team (aka Owens, Sanders) He never disrupted his team down in Tampa. And I've heard everybody on these boards say how much they want Portis, but he's just as cocky if not more than Sapp. Sapp has always been the guy to tell it like it is, when things are going wrong, he says it, when there going right, he says it. You can't knock him for that.

2) Yes he is on the back end of his career, but he's still a heck of alot better than anyone we have now. He could also be a great influence and teacher to the young rookie d-linemen we bring in here through the draft. He can teach them the techniques, and the intensity we need on that side of the ball.

3) The biggest reason we need him is we need Heart, and Intensity on that side of the ball. I'm sick of our Defenses getting all fired up in the first quarter of a ball game just to see them settle down and lose confidence when were not blowing the other team away. No matter how much you hate these Guys because they've been on the opposite side of the ball, Players like Ray Lewis, Warren Sapp, Bill Romanowski, the list could go on and on, all have kept there defenses in the game because of there unwillingness to lose and there desire to win...and it's about time we got someone like that on our side of the ball.

Ok, 8-[ I'm ready....let the tomatoes rip!

i'm not going to throw any virtual tomatoes at you! :D but...sapp IS on the backend of his marvelous career. and seriously, i don't think that we can afford him. he is going to command quite a chunk of money. he's probably going to want a long contract with a lot of guaranteed money. while i agree that he would be a marked improvement to our very mediocre d-line he is too risky for any long term investment.

my pick would be robaire smith of the titans. he's only 26, plays the run sturdily, and has a GREAT motor. not a warren sapp/john randle sack machine, but hurries the quarterback pretty nicely. i'm not sure if he had played under greg williams; but, i'm sure that williams would know what to do with him.

i know you only said one...but i would then go look at a cornerback. antoine winfield of the bills would be a nice fit. a superb tackler who plays the run support with near reckless abandon and a decent cover corner. he's no champ but he'll cost a lot less money than champ. plus, like smoot, this kid has a lot of heart. mcalister would have been my first choice (at cb) but the stupid (and, i guess, smart) ravens locked him up. btw: winfield DID play for greg williams.

i'm all for sapp, just not the money he'll want. regardless if he's getting old, he's got 2 or 3 years left. and he will be doubled on just about every play, which will free up other guys to do other things. he could help just about any line in the league...except carolina, he'd look washed up with those beasts 8)

I don't know if he's a FA or not, but if he is, what about Jason Taylor, #99 from the Dolphins?
R.I.P. Andrew McDonough 9/3/92 - 7/14/07. Love & miss you, #20.
