THN is the wrong place to get into a stat war, if you're not ultra-prepared. I've learned that the hard way from time to time.

Aqua4ever,

Love your enthusiasm and I'm not a Dolphin-hater. They have a great D and will definitely be a big test for us early on. I liked watching them in the 70s, but they've hardly been a force in the AFC since that time (although Jimmy Johnson had them on the verge in 90s before he bailed out).

I have to tell you that I'd much rather have Jason Campbell than Trent Green at QB. Green stunk it up last year and his career is likely over the next time he gets hit. He's a stop-gap measure for Miami until they get an underling ready to QB (didn't they draft that Beck kid from BYU?). On the other hand, JC is just getting warmed up and I think he'll do well against Miami. As I see it, as does the franchise I'm sure, this is a must win game for Gibbs and company. We will be ready. You have a new coach. I like our chances.

BTW, the last time the Skins met the Dolphins (in Miami), the Skins outplayed them most of the way until the 4th quarter when Ricky Williams took over the game. (They stymied him most of the way.) I think we had Tim Hasselbeck QBing, who I thought did very well (not sure why we let him get away). Anyway, last time I checked, no more Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown doesn't replace him.

Best of luck. You'll need some to win the opener in DC.

Not a Dolphin hater either. Id much rather have a Dolphin fan here than a cowpuke!!!

One of my friends is a Dolphin fan and you really do have a good D. And Green will need some time with a new team, Its hard to say the fins will come out winning games right from the start. I hope they do well after that, but Im pretty sure the skins will come up with the W in this one.

Don't know how much you know about our team. but Ill tell you this. It will take at least a half a season for Trent to get to where our "rookie" QB is right now. Our hole offence was coming together right at the end of the season. And don't use last year to measure our D. We had lots of injuries, and no depth. We have fixed that and upgraded MLB.

I would think the fins may be doing something by the end of the year......................maybe.

Taylor VS Taylor!!!!!!
Should be a good game!

LeRon Landry, SS: The team's first round draft choice will team up with Sean Taylor to form one of the fastest and most-feared safety combinations in the game. It'll also be one of the youngest, meaning this position could be a staple in Washington's defense for years to come. Receivers beware.

This will not be a good game for the 'fins because:

1. 1st regular season game - full playbook available
2. home game at FedEx Field - nuff said
3. many of our players will be playing with a chip on their shoulder for not diong better last year - always a great motivator

fellow skins fans feel free to add your own :D

so, go ahead, treat Jason as a rookie, don't respect our WRs, ignore our OL/DL, forget about our TE ... if you do, you'll have a very rude start of the 2007 NFL eason!

You're talking as if you were a great team last year and as if the Dolphins will have no motivation. Remember the popular Super Bowl pick last year? It was Miami, there is obviously talent there and we still have a top 3 defense in the league. If the offense catches up at all, we'll be a very good team.

Home game at Fed Ex, nuff said? I guess there wasn't enough said last year because the Skins were just 3-5 at home last year.

I will say right now that our Jason (Campbell) throws more TDs than your Jason has sacks.

It will be nice to see Trent Green again!

I can make that bet. Campbell at best will only have 1 TD pass and it's probably a safe bet that Taylor will get to him at least once.

skinsfan#33 wrote:What areas are the Dolphin clearly better than the Skins?

Here are the areas that the Skins are clearly better than the Fins:

RB - no contest
TE - again, not even close
OL - Ditto
WR - in the ball park, but edge to Bugandy and Gold
(what kind of color is Aqua any way)
Safety - Fins' WR better duck
CB - Who are the Dolphins CBs
LB - If you want to argue this one I will listen

So that only leaves QB and DL. Two very important areas, but I don't think that there will end up being that much difference in our up and coming QB and your used to be very good QB.

QB- I'll take Trent Green over Jason Campbell right now. It might be a differnt story in a few years, but not now.
RB- No contest at running back? Please, I obviously can't change your opinion but yes, it's close.
TE- You've got us
OL- You've got us
WR- I disagree big time with your opinion. Moss is okay but Randel El is nothing special and neither is any one else. We have Chambers, Booker, Ginn and Hagan, all players that will have a good impact this year.

DL- Oh yeah, we got you here. We might be old but Vonnie Holliday, and Keith Traylor penetrate the OL just fine and the rook Matt Roth is poised for a breakout year.
LB- Don't even try to start with this argument. There might not be a better set of linebackers in the NFL. Taylor, Thomas, Crowder and Porter, no contest.
CB- We are weak at corner. Will Allen is definitely a starter while the other spot will be battled out between Travis Daniels, Andre Goodman and Jason Allen. For you guys, I think Springs is WAY over rated.
S- Sean Taylor is a beast and Landry could be the same, we'll see. But our safties are under rated. Yeremiah Bell is a play maker and Renaldo Hill just gets his job done. I still give the nod to you though.

Should be a good game, but I still don't think the Skins have a chance.

Hey, even a blind squirel gets a nut once in a while. Lets re-cap your TDs in that game.

First, TD was a six yard drive after a muffed punt (the only mistake D. Hester made all year). By the way Brown rushed 2 times for 1 yard on that long 6 yard drive.

Second, was a 20 yard Int return be Jason Taylor. I still don't know what Grossman was thinking!

Third, was your longest (34 yards) TD drive of the day afetr yet another Grossman bone head play, this time a fumble.

Forth, was a 12 yard drive after Grossman completes a 42 yard pass and the receiver fumbles the ball.

So that is 28 of the 31 point off of turn overs and I go back to the whole Squirel and nut thing. You had a Int returned for a TD and the other three TD drives totalled 52 yards. In other words, luck does play a factor in games.

So you're telling me that our defense had nothing to do with those TOs? That pick by JT was amazing, great catch. The forced fumble by Bell was an absolute stick, great hit. You want to knock on Ronnie? Don't use this game, he had over 150 yards and dominated the Bears all day.

I'm not saying your defense had nothing to do with it, but that was a very uncharacteristic game for the Bears. Even if you cause a fumble (which is skill) if luck is not on your side you still won't end up with the ball. The year before last the Skins lead the NFL in causing fumbles, but were near last in fumble recoveries. That doesn't happen unless you have a lot of luck running against you. Plus your turn overs came deap in Bear territory, another lucky thing.

I will give you the play that Taylor made on that INT was great, but 9 out of 10 NFL QBs would never have thrown that ball. Grossman must have really aggrivated Bears fans to no end! No day he looks like a Pro Bowler, the next he looks likie one of the worst QBs in the league.

Ronnie Brown had 154 yards (no TDs) and was great that game. Heck that was double his average yards per game against a very good Bears D (remember the Fins only scored 3 points against that D that wasn't a result of a turnover)

I understand the luck issue, I've seen a lot of fumbles created but not recovered by the Fins. (We forced 5 in a game in Buffalo a couple years ago and came away with 0 of them.) But the most chances you create, the more turnovers you'll get, most of th time.

Yeah Grossman was horrible that day. He had some bails sail on him but our defense was great that day.

Brown was also awesome, he was finding holes and punishing DBs trying to tackle him. The rest of the offense was pretty bad however. Chambers had an insane TD catch but Harrington was bad.

Or just nobody interested in interacting with a flamer - especially when he picks and chooses.

Try ExtremeSkins - that's the official Redskins board and you'll fit right in there - you'll be missed greatly here.

Bingo, I started to reply last night and realized it would be a waste of my time since he only reads the responses where he hasn't been proven wrong.

There really is no point in getting into a heated discussion about the match up between the Skins and Fins on opening day.. There will be no waver from a dolphin fan thinking that they will punish us...On the other hand as Skin fans we all believe differently....I do want to say that some of you guys are wrong about Ronnie Brown...he is a beast, trust me!!!! and w/ Cam Camerons offensive scheme people who doubt him will be eating there words. He will absolutely flurrish in that offense, no if's and's or but's about it. I don't care what he hasn't done up to this point in his career,he'll be a late bloomer kind of like another running back I loved, who was a pure punisher of would be tacklers I.E Stephen "the beast" Davis..say what you want about Ronnie but I know that he will eventually be a force in the nfl....more so than his counter part from Auburn (Carnel Williams) and boy haven't those Auburn Tigers been putting out nothing but punishing running backs as far back as Bo Jackson??? sorry for the love fest w/R.B.......I am a skin fan for life and sorry Dolphin fans but this game is ours...this is our year to make some loud noise!!!!

Hey does anyone know what last year buys you? NOTHING! It doesn't matter how good the Dolphins defense was last year because IT WAS LAST YEAR! I will guarantee our defense will be ranked in the top 10 this year. Our offense should be within the top 12. On opening day, the dolphins will be put in a can and shipped back to Miami with a 35-7 loss and a record of 0-1. Ahhh, only 21 days until training camp...

Sorry, Brad, but I have to disagree.

At Auburn:
2003 - rushed for 446 yds
2004 - rushed for 913 yds

At Miami:
2005 - rushed for 907 yds
2006 - rushed for 1008 yds

To say he WILL be a beast in Cameron's system is, well, nothing more than speculation and conjecture. Brown was known as a good receiving RB at Auburn, not for pure rushing ability. His numbers to date DO NOT indicate he will be a beast in ANY system.

If you're a Redskins fan, yes. But I don't think there's any one else really worried about the Skins this year, me included. I'd take Ronnie Brown over Clinton Portis any day of the week and twice on Sunday. All those accomplishments are nice against the JV teams of the NFC, but when you venture into the AFC, you'll find some better compition. Good luck blocking Taylor and Porter.

Well, thank god you aren't worried, the fact that you think Brown is better than Portis is proof positive of your overwhelming knowledge. Fun facts: one of these running backs has 18 rushing touchdowns in two years and the other has nine. One of them rushed for 2039 that past two seasons (while missing a significant portion of one) while the other rushed for 1915. One of them has three fumbles in the past two years, the other has eight. One of their teams finished 7th and 4th in rushing the past two seasons, the other finished finished 12th and 22nd. Twenty second is a 10 spot drop in one year, in case that didn't jump out at you. Is this getting boring yet? I'm bored, so the first running back in each scenario is Portis and the second is Brown. It's good to know you'd take Ronnie twice on Sundays, you need to double his production to make this a competition.
As for that pass rush, I guess the Redskins just have to hope the offensive line that surrendered the third fewest sacks in the league last year will have to suffice.

I love facts.

Some of these predictions are hilarious. I love how some have said the Skins will be in the top 10 in defense and offense and beat the Fins 31-0 or some blow out like that. Miami never gets blown out, our defense is too good, you're going to have to hold us under 14 points if you want to win.
