Agreed, he's too good for such a team. At least we can agree on that. I mean...pffftt..who in the world would think Pennington is better than JC? How many years has Penny been injured? Half his career or more?

do you think Gibbs thought that they were asking him about Brunell?
That would explain the enthusiasm - he sure didnt have any last year for JC.

If this is goinmg to be the 33rd thread about "why Ramsey should start for the Redskins except for (a) evile Spurrier and (b) evil Gibbs, then please open a new thread in "Around the league".

Ramsey is not coming back.

This thread is about the current Redskin starter.

This page started out good then ended in some Jets bs. Waaaa

Ramsey sucked. He did get piledriven into the ground.

Good kid though.

Campbell is the man. You guys just don't believe it yet. Even the idiots at ESPN are now onto it... See the clip?

Since someone went Jets...Ill go Bears... Another future stud is Garrett Wolfe(R) hb....on the Bears....watch and pray!

Pennington also made the playoffs this year, has lead the league in passing efficancy rating, has won playoff games and JC hasn't even won three games yet, and has lost more than doubling the amount of wins he has.

This isn't a Ramsey thead I am just stating that no Qb on the Redskins can start on the Jets, so to hold that against Ramsey is ridiculous.

Who knows? Maybe Ramsey would have turned into Rypien if he had been coached by Joe Gibbs from the beginning. That meant sitting out the SB 22 season with an "injury". Look at Joe on the sidelines, and you see Rypien in Redskin sweater holding the clip-board.

Who can roll back several years and predictt what would have happened to Ramsey if he had had a progessional coach. I'll add, to Ramsey's favor, that Schroeder had Monk, Clark, and Didier as receivers, with Ricky Sanders as a three-wide changeup. And Monk was a ferocious blocker, so the Redskins could run when they had "the Posse" set. Ramsey had a pitiful receiving crew (what happened to that Gardner guy????) and ran an offense that Richie Petibon had shown how to stop more than ten years earlier.

Still, Ramsey couldn't start for the Jets. Campbell is the QB now and in the future (fingers crossed against injury...anybody remember George Shaw, the brilliant young QB for the Colts who got hurt...allowing a nobody named Unitas to take over?).

Campbell is our QB, and Brunell is mentor/backup.

If Doug Williams praises him, and mentions that Joe Gibbs knows QB's, then that's enough for me.

Campell couldn't start for the Jets ethier, he is not in the same league as Pennington.

Sure he is, they both play in the NFL!

But I know what you mean, but you're wrong!

What exactly has Pennington accomplished in his career that makes him SO much better than Campbell?

He was the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year, and did lead an otherwise mediocre team into the playoffs.

However, if I had to place bets on this year I would probably take Campbell. Pennington is good, but he has been unpredictable in his career. Even last year he had a few very poor performances.

Looking at Campbell, though, he's shown moments of brilliance in his short time on the field. Did Campbell ever look less than fully composed to anyone? Did Campbell even look so shaken that he seemed out of control of the offense? (When did Ramsey ever look fully in control of the offense? When did Brunell not look shaken up a bit this past season?). When Campbell took those deep shots, did they look like Hail Marys, or did they look like confident bullets -- even if a couple were off by a yard or two?

Look at all of the offseason reports about the young man. He's strong enough that a defensive end can have his arms on him, and he still gets a solid throw off. He's no Vick when it comes to running, but he's definitely not a pocket statue.

There isn't a ton to go on, but I'm with the guy who wrote in an article about Campbell's defining moment this past season. It's a crucial 3rd down play, and his helmet receiver goes out after he hears the formation from the coach. He doesn't call a timeout (which would have been perfectly acceptable), he simply takes in the situation and makes the best decision that he can. Cooley runs a great route over the middle, shakes off a tackler, and rumbles his way into the endzone.

All of this is conjecture on my part, but Campbell seems like the more reliable QB for 2007, even if he is a bit green still.

Totally agree and well said, Irn-Bru. Also, Campbell did make some nice scrambles for first downs last year, even when a d-lineman had him for a loss in the backfield. So Campbell definitely has some running ability, something Pennington and Ramsey lack.
