I don't recall the Giants going to the playoffs last year after winning that game. At best it was a longshot. I think the Packers were in better shape in the playoff hunt and even SF.

Huh really? I could have sworn on January 7, 2007, the Giants lost to the Eagles 23-20.

Schefter never usually gets my attention in a positive manner but when he described Campbell's offseason and his improvement, it changed my mind on the whole offseason. Campbell improving this much is the best news we could get this offseason. Our success this season will be determined by his improvement.

yeah dude (hanburgerhelper), what are you talking about??

to clarify: it was the last game of the season. if the giants won, they were in the playoffs. if they lost, they were out. they won, so they made it into the 1st round of the playoffs, where they lost to the eagles.

you don't have to rely on your memory, or "hope" the other person is right, it takes about 7 seconds to look it up and get the facts straight.

SeanTaylorJr. wrote:JC is remarkably similar to phillip Rivers to me (beyond their #'s). He rode the Bench, while everyone thought he had potential, people called for him to play and it didn't happen. Perfect prototype quarterback bodies, skill sets. noticable poise, quite demeanor. All of a sudden their teams were turned over to both of them, but neither has Manning-esque offensive responsibility. I guess that means JC will be a pro bowler; i just hope that doesn't mean e gets hurt and gets progressively worse as the season goes by.

The difference between Rivers and JC is of course that Rivers had the advantage of being the clear starter from the first day of camp, so he had all that extra time to work with the first team and develop his timing, etc., with his receivers. That obviously played a role in his numbers being better. JC was a mid-season replacement, which obviously place handicapped him from truly excelling in '06 - of course I think he did pretty well with the opportunity presented him.

Anyway, I hope your're right and I'm wrong. I still think people are getting rather giddy after reading that article on nfl.com. JC has only started seven games and what was his record? Not too good.

JC would have won more games if the defense wasn't so bad last year. It's kind of hard for a quarterback to put up 28-35pts a game to cover up for the 31st ranked defense. If we had a top ten defense, we probably could have made the playoffs with JC at the helm. He showed great poise and a lot of promise. That is just about all you can ask out of the "third string quarterback". This year he is getting all of the reps and is going into his second year in the same system. 1st time in his pro career where he is the unquestioned starter and the 1st time in his pro/college career where he is in the same system as the year before.

There are a lot of things to be excited about when it comes to JC. When he played as good as he did last year without really "knowing" the system, just wait and see what he does this year. I am not sure if he is pro bowl material but he will be a solid starter and will make us win games instead of trying to avoid losing them. As long as our defense is stout this year, we will be one of the top teams in the league.

We need to stop talking about this before we jinks him....

Last thing we need is him to get too cocky. That happens the first thing to go is the work ethic the next is the next one to go is disire.

I do hope his head is bigger this year. Just look at how big paytons head is, thats why he is good. Maybe Jason will need a bigger helmet this year. haha Kindding
I firmly believe the Patriots are the antichrist.

If Campbell doesn't pan it. It won't be from lack of effort. He's doing all the things he can. You've got to love that.
