He will probably not have very good numbers this year, and the chiefs are going to be terrible and have lost all of their high profile lineman.

Here was the rationale....
1. The Skins are a little worried about Clintons shoulder.
2. The deal would be contingent on LJ signing a long term deal (They feel they can get much better value now than if they let him actually become an FA and let him test the waters)
3. The cap hit would actually be LESS than Clintons number + the #6 pick overall.
4. Lastly, LJ is better and has MUCH fewer miles on his tires.

You are correct- these links are only about how KC is thinking about trading some players, including Larry Johnson.
While this is right now just "rumor/speculation" (which I said in my origional post) I guess I would qualify it more as "informed speculation".
The friend I heard it from has a family member who used to work with Comcast sportsnet and who still has contacts there.
This SAME person called the Portis/Bailey trade from Denver a few years back 2-3 days before ANY media outlet had it. (Personally I'd call it "pillow talk" if you catch my drift.)

Purely speculative, not gonna happen

There's a substantial number of NFL runningbacks whose career went in the toilet after logging seasons near 400 carries.
Jamal Anderson, Jamal Lewis, Terrell Davis, etc.

Are you two done or do I need to come back later?

Skins get Larry Johnson.
Chiefs get #1 2007 + Portis. (& maybe more picks)

That better not be true! That's got to be one of the worst trades ever!

Nice and informed post. Keep them coming. It is the offseason and almost any rumour will involve the Skins and make it to this board.
