Jenkins is a rally good player and he would defenitely upgrade our D-line. Now, is he worth a swap in picks, I dont think so. I would probably trade our 4th round pick next year or, maybe even Loyd, why not ? They need a WR and we need a good DT. Just a thought !!!
Bring Benson buckner out of retirement if you want a Panther DT. He doesn't have near the injury history that Jenkins has. I'm sure after a year off he's willing to play for cheap!

ANYTHING to keep him away from a microphone and a camera.
Interesting. So it seems the reason Carolina would be willing to part with Jenkins is he has a salary of 4.5 mil through 2009. He's had repeated injuries, drinking problems and weight problems. Despite all that, he's only 28 as of start of 2007 season. So the question becomes, would he be worth 4.5 mil to see if he could report to camp at or close to his 340 lbs. playing weight AND is his knee going to hold up? If you feel good about those two issues, THEN maybe the Panthers would take a mid to late round draft pick for him.
Also, the Giants are rumored to want him, so if he is worth the gamble, do you want to chance him shutting down our interior run blocking twice a year?
"in the years he has played he has out produced our d line"
why would we pay big bucks for someone with a disclaimer like that? "oh, you're severely injury prone and you haven't played all that much the last few years, why here's a BIG contract and a chance to swallow some more cap!"
sounds like the reverse treatment on lavar, doesn't it?
Sean, may you always rest in peace and look down on us with the same love that we look up to you.

Per PFT:
A league source tells us that Panthers defensive tackle Kris Jenkins weighed in at last weekend's minicamp at a jaw-dropping (and raising . . . and dropping . . . and raising) 384 pounds.

Thanks for the update redskin1 - sounds like this kid is setting himself up for a reality check
I really am still hoping we can "improve" on defense without trading any of our first day picks next year - i have a feeling our D will not be great or really bad (as it was last season) if we just go with who we have now and are able to add in the coming months - I just want to keep those picks - I even hope we end up with more picks in the top 100 - that would be a real challenge to these guys.
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
The Panthers are deep at linebacker already. There is no one other than Ladell Betts that we could let go and still be Ok.
The Panthers drafted linebackers so I doubt they will need that. Also they have two excellent corners and lord knows we need all our corners.
They only player we might have to offer them would be Ladell Betts and we need him, also they have two good Hbs already.
The only thing we really have to offer them would be Ladell Betts, or draft picks. We all know whats happened in the past giving up draft picks.
I like Kris Jenkins he is a stud DT, I just dont see how we are going to get him without giving up too much.
So I say if he is somehow cut and becomes a free agent then we bring him in. I actually might consider giving up a third or fourth round pick next year though.
