Marshall was and is a OLB but now he has the insight of playing in the middle. Getting a real MLB will be a plus. AP was a converted OLB also, in other words there hasn't been a true MLB in this system since Gibbs returned. Marshall will be able to fill in at all 3 linebacker spots without much dropoff in talent (if he doesn't beat Rocky out @ WLB). Washington, Marshall, McIntosh isn't bad but then we'd be looking at depth the caliber of Holdman. This is a good move for the linebackers as a whole.
my bad, i thought you were talking about losing Dockery and putting Marshall into the OT spot.....lol

Might want to wait and see what that tag will be.
Note: This isn't last year = 12 hours in and we've only signed Redskins
Update: Last year I said Joe had took the keys to Redskin1 ("the Danny" loaded everyone up on one night )... I think Joe found the spare

Exactly, just wait and see. There are numerous threads frantic about the price of Fletcher when we have no idea what the price is. Also, having Marcus Lemar and Rocky is a great thing. Ton of depth, keep them fresh, lot of flexibility. We have been plagued with lack of depth and it needs to be addressed.

Dockery is a OG not an OT

Fletcher returned from his physical a little while ago and was whisked to the back of the building.

SMOOT BACK TO 'SKINS?
An entry from a supposedly respected poster on a message board owned by the Washington Redskins indicates that cornerback Fred Smoot has signed with the team, after a two-year detour to Minnesota.
The story has been up for a couple of hours, but we have found no official confirmation of it.
Because of that, we weren't going to post it yet. But we've gotten over 100 e-mails from 'Skins fans who swear that it's legit, so we figured the only way we would shut them up was to use it.

If they do sign smoot i wonder if theyll take springs cap hit. It is almost worth it looking forward cuz he makes a lot of money through salary too. He has a monster deal.

What number will Smoot wear? #27?

He may try to buy #21 back from Taylor. I liked Taylor in #36 myself...
In any case, whatever Smoot wears he'll be a big contributor. I liked him a lot when he was with us the first time.

wow, good sign! hopefully he hasnt regressed and only struggled last year because of the system in Minnesota. He should provide good depth, maybe even battle Carlos for a starting job

Clayton is reporting Flecter has signed a 5 year 25M with 10M garunteed.
Pasta Bellt is now reporting the same numbers ($10.5M SB)

Excellent! Now let's get the Smoot deal done and we can pick a DE in the draft with our top pick.

I think that LFB is a good signing, but I heard the Skins wanted to move him to SLB to play while MW is gone... and I really hate that idea... if true.

FLETCHER IS A 'SKINA league source tells us that linebacker London Fletcher has agreed to terms with the Washington Redskins.
Per the source, it's a five-year, $25 million deal. It pays a $10.5 million signing bonus and pays out $12.5 million over the first two years.
Washington was Fletcher's first and only visit. Other teams that were interested in the nine-year veteran were the Bills, Lions, and Patriots.
That not a bad deal for a 31 year old that you are bringing in to start and run your unit.
$5M signing bonus and $5M roster bonus in 2008 cap hit should be no more than $1.85M this year

I agree, good deal and good pick-up. He will help our D in a big way.
