Blame GW for the D, not the O!

Impossible. Last time I checked, this was a team sport. If our offense puts up 0 points on the board, is it still the defense fault? They might as well have scored 0 points because 10-14 isn't going to cut it in todays offense happy NFL.[/quote]

The Skins scored 14 or less 4 times. I'll take an 12-4 record. The O failed to score atleast 22 points 9 times.

The Skins' opposition scored 30 or more 4 times. The D gave up 20 or more 10 times

The two worst games the D played all year were the last two were the O scored 31 and 28, too bad the D gave up almost 300 yards rushing in both games and let the Rams and Giants score 37 and 34 rescpectively.

I'll agree that the O played it's part in how bad this team was and how bad the D was, but for the first time in three years the O was not our week link. That by far was the D and the O has very little to do with it.

Chris - where do you get this idea that nobody is holding the offence to the same standard as the defence? For the previous two seasons, the offence was rubbish, and I don't remember these pages being filled with posts defending that performance. The offence was rubbish, and I think most people piled on.

This year, the defence stunk, and we're all piling on to them. Sure, the offence didn't help out a lot, but I'm not ready to apportion any of the blame for our defensive performance on the offence.

The defence was on the field a lot because they couldn't stop anybody - the only way they ever got off the field quickly was if they conceded points quickly. Which they did, often, and in every way imaginable.

A bad offence is a hindrance to success, that's for sure. And the offence in 2004 was probably as bad as the defence was this year. But I don't remember being so utterly embarrassed by that offence as I was by this defence. There is something completely demoralising about a defence so bad that it just keeps on giving up huge plays and hurling momentum back to the opposition (that's on the very few occasions when the team had any momentum). The miserable incompetence of our defence this year made the whole team seem like a bunch of limp wristed ballerinas.

I'll criticise the offence in a thread about the offence, but as far as I'm concerned, they're not carrying the can (or any part of it) for the defence as well. My 2 cents

This is why I blame the D, just look how our O and D stacked up in the NFL.

Offence standings
http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/O ... rt_col_1=4

We were 12th

VS

Defence standings.
http://www.nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/D ... rt_col_1=4

We were 31st

Their is a big difference in our O and D in the NFL.

The D gets the heat. If our D was even in the top 15 we would have made the playoffs. Our Offense had passed the G-men in the total O.

BnGhog wrote:Let me ask you guys. A friend of mine seems to think our D sucked last year because of our O. we went back and forth about this for like an hour. I think our D just sucked, lack of a pass rush and lack at CB and Safety. He said our offence couldn't stay on the field long enough and D stayed tired. He said the Greg is the best coach we have and the problem is the offence side(hinting that it was Gibbs fault). He even said we should get rid of CP and said Campbell isn't our answer at QB either. He really made me mad. He calls himself a Redskin fan.

I Disagree with this I think we put together some good drives. Just thought I would share this and see what you guys think.

His views do not eliminate him as a Redskin fan. Honest views should be respected whether we agree with them or not.

I'm in favor of defense. We didn't have one in 2006 so I'd love to see one in 2007 just to see if the results would be any different. Not sure whether it's because the coaching now sucks or the players now suck or a combination of the two. ](*,)

Indy, It has taken them so many years y haven't they made it, but this year their D steped up. And the O had not been playing their best this last few games of the season.

Not so fast - this Colts defense was the worst in the NFL against the run during the season, - THE WORST - and they were ranked 21st on total D  They have been playing very well in the playoffs.

That cliche "defense wins ,,," etc and using the stats to make points are so often so misleading.

Good teams find ways to win no matter what happens.

The Redskins D played badly and looked even worse :?
