If the first rounder is in the top 5 this year, the Skins should try and trade it for a bundle of first day picks. They have a lot of holes on the team, and 1 first rounder won't fix that.

I know we have many holes to fill, but I like the idea of getting someone flashy. Maybe a defensive lineman, or linebacker.
The way I see it, Gregg Williams does well finding no name guys who fit perfectly into his scheme... it's his trademark.
Why not go after nice vets to fill the roles and get a little star power if we can.
OMG! Did Dan Snyder make this post? picks, picks, and more picks is what this team needs. Screw flashy names and "star power." That crap hasn't worked yet, why would it next year?

Forget it, if we end up with a top ten pick we need to use it on an impact player. Yes, we have plenty of holes to fill but we also have the weapons on offense and defense to be right back in the division hunt.
If I'm in charge I use our first round pick on the best available defensive player regardless of position and use the remainder of our picks for depth along the offensive line.
In free agency there are a number of issues on the defensive side that need to be addressed. We're growing old quickly on the defensive line and we're 1-7 with Griffin out of the lineup. DT is a position that needs to be addressed. Whether it's depth to allow us to rotate linemen and keep them fresh or a free agent starter to line up next to Griffin depends on the free agent market. If we can identify an impact player for that position sign him.
Todays game also made it painfully obvious that we need help at LB. Holdman is a free agent that shouldn't be a starter on any NFL team, and Marshall has regressed considerably. At 30, Marshall doesn't have much room for improvement, I see him as a depth player only, not a starter at MLB. I'd splurge on this position in free agency again. Depending on the cap situation either an upper tier FA like Lance Briggs or a younger player with upside from some of the LB rich teams.
As awful as Rogers has played lately I'm not ready to give up on him yet. The second year is notoriously tough on corners coming out of college so I'd like to see what he can do after going through an injury free offseason. Nate Clements is an option also.
This is obviously a very free agent heavy approach, but the reality is that we don't have the picks to address our holes in the draft exclusively.

I support the signing of Albright and Duckett but don't think it will make much difference whether we sign the others or not. I think Betts can the traded for a draft pick and maybe Dockery, whose play has not improved.
I don't know what we can get for them, but Samuels and Jansen should be put on the market for draft picks. This OL needs to be rebuilt as soon as possible. Both our offensive and defensive lines are being overpowered-- its painful to watch. Carter, Arch, Daniels, Salvea, and Holdman need to be replaced, and Griffen has started going downhill. Who knows what's wrong with Rogers. Supposedly a tough guy, he's been pushed around lately, giving receivers easy catches and missing tackles in run support.
I think that we now have a bad team whose dynamics are shot. Shoot me for saying so, but I think we should deal Portis for a No. 1 and then some, if we can. He's too small a guy to have taken the pounding he's taken and I suspect, even if he recovers completely from current injuries, he's on his way to becoming an RB whose chronic health issues diminish his effectiveness. Keeping Brunell as our QB has been costly for Portis.
The Skins should take a really good look at Duckett as a guy that they can build around. If he isn't such a guy, we need to know it now, just as we needed to find out about Campbell. Also, it's time to start Rocky for the same reason, ditto our younger defensive tackles.

Also, it's time to start Rocky for the same reason, ditto our younger defensive tackles.
The young DTs have been playing, a lot. Both Golston and Montgomery started in the Titans game.
And Rocky, no idea why he hasn't played at all. It's stupid...he should have been in on a few plays at least by now. We gave up a 2nd rounder just to move up to get him...2 2nd rounders for a guy who doesn't play at all is awful.
