It is time Joe.
RIC is heated.... dude, I wish I could get an email every time you post.
But I doubt anyone has the wits to ask him a serious question. I doubt they'd allow Brian Mitchell in the room. I might try to call in and ask a question.

No need. Joe knows what the questions are. If he wishes to answer them, it will be done during his opening statement. Anything after that will be gravy.

Now, if Campbell comes in and puts up 12 TD's and 1500 yards in six games...I'll agree that I was wrong. But the reality is that the coaches and the players don't think that he is ready. And if he were to come in and play yesterday against the Eagles in Philly, in the rain, with the season on the line......he wouldn't have done any better than Brunell.

What QB sitting on the bench and not getting reps with the starters, is ready??? Romo, Rivers, Young, Gradkowski, Lineart, etc. were/are young QBs that nobody really thought was ready but they are not complete bums. Alot of people act as if Jason Campbell is some high school or college kid that just arrived in Redskin Park this year. For just as many people that don't think he is not ready, there are just as many that say put him in and let's see.
I was listening to Sportstalk 980 today and a caller made a good point. Play Campbell now to see what we got instead of waiting until next year, start him and go 0-5 before we realize that he is not ready. Jason Campbell has not started an NFL game and he will make mistakes. But people act as if he is not supposed to and he should be ready to lead this team to the Super Bowl now. Put him in for the remainder of the season so that he can get valuable game experience, really learn this offense, and really learn how to read defenses in "live" game action. What do we have to lose at this point??? Let the kid go through his going pains now so that he will be ready to go and understand the offense, reading defenses, and be ready for the "game speed" of the NFL.
I agree that he needs to start now. We have to see what he has. But there is a difference between Romo and Campbell. Romo has been in the same offense for a couple of years, and he did enough in proactice to give Parcells confidence in him. Campbell apparently hasn't impressed many people at Redskins Park. We don't see anything of Campbell, but the coaching staff does. They don't seem to think that he is ready.....which is why Collins is the backup!
At this point we have nothing to lose......but at 12:55pm yesterday we had a lot to lose and Brunell was the best guy to give us a shot......and he blew it. But he is still the best chance that we have to win. Now that winning is out of the question....lets get the rookie in.....but not until then...that would be giving up on the season and I don't want my team to do that!

It's more than that. If Parcells thought so much of Romo, why wasn't he a starter from Opening Day? Parcells, like Gibbs, initially wanted to play it safe and go with the vet. However, he saw it wasn't working out (like here), and before the season was completely done (unlike here), he decided to make the switch. Going with the young guy is a gamble, no doubt, but sometimes you've got to take a big risk to gain a big reward. So far, it looks like Parcell's gamble has paid off. Here, we've got coaches determined to play it safe, even if that means becoming predictable, which gets you killed in this league. They're not willing to risk anything to win, out of fear of losing, but we're losing nonetheless. It may be that Campbell just isn't that good and we wasted three picks on him, but I've never believed he's been given a fair shot. Gibbs has always believed vets are automatically better, and Campbell would have to be amazing to even have Gibbs consider playing him ahead of Brunell. It's hard to know what the truth is until Campbell has at least a season under his belt, but having watched the Brunell/Ramsey soap opera in '04, I don't believe Brunell is simply better as he's playing right now.

Okay. Then why would they announce that JC is the starter if Brunell is out for a week and Collins is the "in-game" backup? Why not just make Collins the sole #2 QB? Mark Brunell has given us the best chance to be 3-6 and if he continues to start, probably win 1 or 2 more games tops.
It's not giving up on the season but looking to the future. I would rather know if JC is a bust now as opposed to going through what we are going through now next year. Put him in and get his feet wet now.....

I hear what you are saying. I just dont' think that we know enough to draw parallels between Romo and Campbell. For everytime that it pays off there are many examples where it doesn't. Romo impressed Parcells, Campbell hasn't impressed Gibb's and Co.
We do need to see him play. But this was supposed to be a year for the Skins to go deep into the playoffs, you don't (Roethlisbergr aside) do that with a rookie. We had a few bad games early and Gibbs was just hoping that we would turn it around...like last year....it didn't happen.
The interesting question is what will Gibbs do now? If he doesn't start Campbell now, I'll be on your side. But I disagree with starting him early in the year under the circumstances that we have on our team.
