 AA's base salary is $585,000 this year. Springs, Ade Jimoh, Rumph, Wright and Troy Vincent all make more in base than Archuleta. S Taylor and Springs both have higher cap numbers than AA

That still doesn't make anyone else feel any better when it is common knowledge that he has bonuses and escalators that dwarf their respective contracts....

Bonuses and escalators that he won't meet unless his play steps up....
Isn't that how it should be, if he doesn't perform he dosen't get paid.

He already got 10 million up front, and as long as he stays on the roster he will get his roster bonuses at least. Other LBE's such as playing in X number of games will also be reached...the players aren't clueless, they know that Archuletta's contract is worth twice as much as Taylor's, and 3 times more than what Ryan Clark signed for. No matter how you try and apologize for it, it is hypocritical to say the least when we claim that we want parody at each position.

Ryan Clark was offered 7 million over four years, Archuletta got more than that in bonus money. Good deal? And how does that make Taylor feel, when he wanted to renegotiate his deal, his talks were shut down. Now he's not only outperforming his deal, but he has to help Archuletta along too. Bad business IMO.

Remember the whole crock that we can't pay Smoot more than Springs since Springs is the #1 corner.? What about the disastrous TJ Ducket move? How can Gibbs say out of one side of his mouth that Betts is a "heck of a guy and we have a lot of confidence in him"...and Rock is "a big part of what we do"...then bring in Ducket at the first sign of injury..instead of promoting guys who have each run for over 100 yards when asked to play for us...meanwhile these guys are getting paid pennies.

No wonder the chemistry is deteriorating...our lies are catchning up with us...and as much as I hate to admit it.....it is very true.

This is an aspect of losing Ryan Clark that I did NOT see coming. I never realized he was a team leader or that he gave Sean Taylor a lot of help/advice out there.

Same with Antonio Pierce. Lemar Marshall is solid, but he doesn't have the football IQ that Pierce has. Pierce is like a coach out there.

Pierce, Clark and Royal were all players who had more value than the sum of their parts.

It's a shame. I hope the front office learned their lesson about underrating your own guys. There are a lot of players who I think we rightfully let go (Bowen, Lott, even Smoot and Champ (in return for CP)). But some guys you have to keep. Guys like Clark and Pierce.

Learned their lesson? I can only hope...since we do this every two years, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Sorry I wasn't referring to this years salary of AA but his overall contract. I should have been clearer.

Either way he's brung in when the favorite is out so he must make plays and that haven't happened.

I'm just now realizing what a bad move not to sign Clark was. I thought he wanted a really big contract...didn't know it was only 4 years for 7 mill.
