If he was any good Buffalo would have kept him, just another name on the list of high price under achieving players . You build through the draft and add a few free agents , we have one of the highest payrolls and one of the worst teams.
I doubt at this point in the season that we signed him for much over the minimum.

So you are telling me that he has completely done a 180 from last year because of a hamstring injury? Look, as i've said before, we are all entitled to our opinions, but to say that this was not worth the chance, of upgrading over Mike Rumph and Kenny Ole Wright does not make sense.
Give the guy a chance to play before you start running him over, backing up and running him over again. A week from now, if this guy comes out and has an int, I'm coming after you coachKarl!!!

Huh? Another big name signing? Troy Vincent hasn't been a big name for years, heck not since he was a cornerback...
He was such a huge commodity that he's still unemployed a few weeks following his dismissal from the <sarcasm>powerhouse</sarcasm> Bills.
I don't know if there's a secondary in football that looks as bad as the Redskins do right now, so I have no idea what could possibly be wrong with bringing in Vincent for a look.
No draft pick, no mult-year contract.. no brainer in my opinion.

Remember when we went out and picked up Thurman Thomas when he was all done? Let's leave the ex-Bills alone.

I don't know, Miami and the Torch-me Texans don't look all that great right now and something is seriously wrong again with the Chiefs! Yikes.
There is the is guy out in Denver that is doing pretty good though, you guys heard of him? Maybe in 5 years when is contract is up and his body is broken down, Snyder will sign him for cheap.
DCGloryYears828791 wrote:you got to have a pass rush
You hit the nail on the head there. If the qb has time to check down on every reciever, call his wife, email his agent, autograph a jersey, and then recheck the pass coverage while in the pocket, not even the best secondary can keep the recievers from getting open.
The way I see the Troy Vincent signing is a last ditch effort to save what the Skins have left of this season. It may work! As a nickel corner/safety he will give you some depth and experience, that can't be a bad thing.

Actually i didn't mean that as a personal attack on your fanatisism at all. I believe you are just as much a fan as i am or the next person. What i didn't agree with was the take that Vincent is washed up. If you just listen to his press conference today, the way he spoke, i cannot see how this move, especially because he cost us nothing but a salary and a roster spot, could not benefit us immediately.
Speaking of his presser, i gotta say, the guy seems super smart and looks like he'll fight his guts out. Im glad to have him, and hope he is at least the answer to the DB's question mark. How bout a 4-2-5 formation with Carter, Griffen, Salevea, Daniels, Washington, Marshall, Springs, Rogers, Vincent, Archuleta and Taylor.

Probably won't help, but might as well try. Maybe we can hold Peyton to 250 yds or so. Even if he does unexpectedly well, Brunell's going to do zip. Gibb/Brunell looks a lot like Spurrier/Awful to me.

Super Smart....now if only Vinny Cerrato and our scouting department were Super Smart...them maybe we'd have a shot at the Super Bowl.
Im gonna print shirts with GIBB-ISM's
"We fought our guts out!"
" One good thing is it's all of us together! "
" I tell ya, he's super smart! "
" We don't think that was a penalty...we're turning that in! "
" I don't know...I gotta look at the film! "
" Ask Bubba he'll give you the list! "
" He's one of our core guys! "
" I feel bad for our owner, he's given us everything we could ask for! "
" Our fans are the best, they always do their part! "

I haven't seen nos 9, 42, 43, 44 or 81 playing lately. Guess there's an informal retirment procedure in action as well.
You are correct that the team refrains on handing out those numbers and I haven't seen a 28 since do good retired, but there is an official reitred numbers list and Baugh's 33 is the only Redskin on it! It is a much bigger deal to have the number "retired" instead of restricted!

I personally think this is a good move for a few reasons. First off, he is a vetrean player who has been successful, and I feel that he has leadership skills. Also, he is not some flashy "it's all about me" type of guy, he is a team player. I feel that he still has a few years left in him, and I think he will be a benefit to our D. Lastly, the guy lives about 30 seconds from me here outside of Philly in a huge house, I think I am going to go knock on his door and try to get some tickets.

Good to see we signed Vincent. Hopefully he'll improve our secondary, but like Duckett, I am sure he'll sit on the bench for 3-4 weeks while opposing offenses dismantle our secondary.

We'll just be in the same situation next year. The guys on our bench will have no experience and this guy will be too old to really be effective in the long run. Our guys on the bench will gradually improve and play great for us in their contract year. They'll then leave and spew more hatred on this franchise.

Vincent instantly becomes #1 on the Redskins' current Pass Coverage Ability list.
(That's considering Springs' present physical and game-shape status. When he's back to 100%, he's #1. Right now, not so much)

So you are saying a guy that was dropped from the Bills, THE BILLS!! is the Skins best cover guy? Not instilling allot of confidence now are we?
The skins better D better have thier heads pulled out of their butts with Peyton coming to town or its going to be a very long day!!

What I've seen over the first six weeks has hardly been cause for confidence. The Redskins have given up
25 pass plays of 20+ yards and six of 40+.
They allow 6.67 yards per pass attempt, which is fitth-worst in the league, behind HOU, GB, DET and SF -- four teams who ain't exactly planning on playing in mid-January.

With Rogers having just had his thumb put back together with screws, and essentially nobody competent on the other side, signing Vincent is a panic move. Hats off to Carlos Rogers if he plays this week, but even if he does I'd be running lots of plays to the side of the non-tackling corner if I was the Colts. Man, this could get ugly.

Everyone runs to his side right now, because once they get past highway 99, either AA or Roggers will be out of possition and after one of them finally makes the stop, warrick holdman (doesn't even deserve capital letter in his name) will be standing aroung the pile looking at them thinking, "I knew there was something I was supposed to do". All antone has to do this year to beat the Skins is run left EVERY play and the Skins will never stop it!
