It's time for someone in that press room and in the media to stop tap dancing around Joe Gibbs and ask him the real questions. Like for instance, a reporter asked Gibbs yesterday in the presser about Vince Young. Gibbs went on and on about how gifted and talented this kid is and that he will be a star. The reporter should have followed up that question by grilling Gibbs as to why he has a similar young and talented QB, that we gave up first round picks to get, just sitting on the sideline and why other teams are playing their young QBs and are not doing that bad? It's like no one wants to ask to tell Gibbs that he has it wrong about Brunell and what they are doing period.

I loved what Joe Gibbs did for us in the past but it was just that, the past. It's 15 years+ later and the game, the players, etc. have changed. Joe Gibbs, IMO, has not or does not know how to adapt to this new NFL and it's "bling-bling" players.

Maybe it's time for some of us fans to "follow" not cheer for, other teams closely like we follow this one so that we can see what it is exactly they are doing right that we are not. It's not hard these days with technology like the internet and satellite T.V. Maybe we will get an idea of how an organization is run.

It's admirable that he is saying that he is the blame in the pressers also but that record is getting old and he is slowly tarnishing his image by protecting a bunch of guys that don't give a damn about him or his legacy. When it is all said and done, it's Joe Gibbs' name that will be remembered years from now when they talk about this crap. Not Portis, not Rogers, not Brunell but Gibbs because it's his name and his legend that is standing out now. I know that coaches and players are part of a fraternity but I'd really like to know what guys like Jimmy Johnson, Joe Thiesman, Marv Levy, and other former coaches and players really thing behind closed doors about the job Gibbs is doing now and the job the organization as a whole is really doing.

Brunell is a lightning rod right now. But ...

... our problems are DEEPER than that. I wish it was as simple as switching QBs. How about that LOUSY defense? Well, I am willing to say that IT DOES NOT matter who could have been at the QB position yesterday.

1) We would stilll have lost with a defense that plays against the run and pass so terribly.

2) the offensive play calling STUNK. Man, you can only play SO MANY screens and dump-offs. After that, it only takes a bit of an adjustment by their defense to shut our team down. They did.

I do not deny that Brunell played one of his worst games and we need URGENT help as soon as NOW. But it is even worse than you guys show in this thread, unfortunayely much worse.

Hold on to your hats guys. May Iremind you that the guy about to come in to replace Brunell WAS NOT Campbell? It was Todd Collins. Hold on to your hats, it willget bumpier before it gets a bit smoother.

He -already- proved this statement to be wrong last season. You would not have made this statement after the win against the Jags.

But I agree with you that something is SERIOUSLY wrong. Why would anybody blame Joe for the collapse of the defense? To be honest, you should bring it on to GW. You should spread the blame to Al Saunders too. Has the game passed these guys? Of course not!

But I agree with you that something is SERIOUSLY wrong. I expect his press conference later today to be more informative.

I'm not disagreeing with anything you say - in fact I agree totally. We've already established that this is not a Super Bowl year, and most likely isn't even a playoff year. We need to rebuild all over the place, and that means getting our "QB of the future" on the field right now, to start building for the future. The rest of the rebuilding will have to wait for the offseason, but we can play Campbell RIGHT NOW and start giving him valuable game-time experience. That's why I and others are wanting so hard for Brunell to get benched (and then hopefully deported, so Gibbs will never be tempted to play him again).

I hear you and you make some valid points but let's not forget this:

We have $10 or more million wrapped up into three coaches (Gibbs, Williams, Saunders) that should, to a man, be smart enough to figure out how to work with what they got. How to call the right plays, get these guys motivated and ready to play, and how to adjust to the game on the fly. They are not getting that done.

I hate to say this but someone needs to be either fired or cut. Because this team is an overcoached and overpaid bunch of guys that are getting in their own way and have no heart. There, I said it if no one else is willing to....

Man, WE are all in this together, including the fans, so tell us something! I think EVERYONE is ready for some changes at QB but Gibbs. As I have stated since the begininng of this year and most of last year, Brunell is done. We need some fire on this team, looking at Brunells abd Gibbs attitude in public it certainly isn't going to come from them.

Agreed. If you do one thing, at least admit Brunell needs to be benched and stop sticking up for the guy. It's time to play Campbell.

So what did Gibbs say at the post-game (other than the obligatory "Mark Brunell is great" stuff we always get)? I couldn't watch it, I was so mad.

No clue, but most likely the same-old same-old. I was not watching it as i was part of the funeral-like procession making my to the landover METRO.

To add insult to injury, Rogers suffered a broken thumb yesterday. So we have an injured CB who couldn't make a play when was playing.

The post did say that we inquired about Troy Vincent's availability and that he could be brought in this week for a workout. I think he would be a huge help!

I totally agree. I like Vincent and think he would be a good addition. Anything at this point can't hurt.

I'm trying real hard to not let my emotions get to me about yesterday's game but this is getting down right frustrating! Who do we believe anymore?... I'm still on the bandwagon, but I have to admit, I'm hanging over the edge! Where do we go from here? It's not looking pretty to say the least....

Class, my ass.

redskins-28 wrote:You call it "canned" answers, I call it class. Joe Gibbs and the entire Redskin organization are a class act, you don't see him calling out players, cursing or just acting like an asshat because we lose a game. He supports his players and the organization like a true class act head coach should. He takes as much blame as anyone else for the teams problems.... because he is a players coach. You keep the problems out of the media, otherwise you look like a bunch of morons like Parcells and the Cowboys....... which do you prefer?

We are a classy team that is 2-4. So you want to continue status cuo and end up 4-12, but the the classiest team in the NFL. No thanks.
