we are getting killed without the blitz the corners and safeties on the field can't cover my grandma in a wheelchair. :?

our front four aren't beating the blocking and we are letting the QB just sit back in the pocket and freakin' kill us.

bringing the blitz some times you get burned and sometimes our D makes a play. i'd reather take the risk of making a big play on defense than sit back and let our defense get walked all over the entire game.
our third down defnse is just awful and we aren't tackling well which is a big concern to me.

[-o< shawn springs get well soon.

You know what, you are the first person here to say that and you are 100% correct. The mark of a good coach is not only his preparation but also his ability to adjust on the fly when his game plan has stalled.

You make another great point about the opponents are paid to figure out what you are doing or not doing and beat it or exploit it.

Makes one wonder whether or not the problem with this team is money from top to bottom. You know, folks have been saying that some of the players here now and players past have gotten paid and lost their edge. Could the same thing be said for the Coaches??? Is this coaching staff arrogantly living off of what Joe Gibbs did 15+ years ago and thinking that other coaches and organizations should fear us because we got Joe Gibbs back????

I am willing to bet you that privately, alot of the guys that played here during the Super Bowl years are saying "what the hell is Joe doing?" Riggo openly said that he thought that Gibbs was out of touch last year.

Dude, if we're getting scorched with help over top, what do you think is going to happen in a 1-1 situation? We blitz a lot, especially with Marcus but they dont get through in time.

Are you able to watch Redskin games?

Do you?

Because that's a complete fabrication.

We aren't blitzing at all... I don't remember a SINGLE blitz call before the 4th quarter yesterday. And even if we are blitzing this year... we're sending ONE extra guy... not like in the last couple of years where Williams might even send EIGHT men total.

If you couldn't 'hide' a porous secondary with a good pass rush and blitz, then the Eagles defense would ALWAYS suck. But Johnson uses aggressive blitzing to hide the issue... Williams has in the past too... but not this year.

According to you, the free safety can't possibly cover the # 1 WR anyway, so out of curiosity, what's the point in providing the help over the top?

I thought I saw M. Washington and Lemar blitzing quite often.

You did. They're sending 6 a lot. They're just getting picked up.

Defensive end Phillip Daniels and defensive tackles Joe Salave'a and Cornelius Griffin are all nursing injuries. That's 3 out of 4 starters.
M Washington also has a problem with his hip, so you are looking at more half the front 7 playing at less than 100%

They do send 6 a lot, but they usually show the blitz way too early and allow the other team plenty of time to adjust their blocking sceams. The only corner "blitz" that I can remeber from Sunday, the guy showed that he was coming, Manning tapped the RB and pointed to the DB, and he still came. He was not only picked up, but the the RB pushed him 10 yards up field. This team does a terrible job of both the timing of and diguising the blitz.

You remembered incorrectly.

From this WashPost article, detailing the problems the Skins had with the Giant's opening drive of the THIRD quarter.

Redskins assistant head coach-defense Gregg Williams said at halftime he was reluctant to blitz aggressively because of a secondary that had given up a 46-yard pass play to Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress in the first half. But on first down, safety Adam Archuleta blitzed the left side and forced Giants quarterback Eli Manning to rush his throw.

On second down, Archuleta blitzed again, this time up the middle, but the Giants read the play.

They blitzed AA the first two downs of the 3rd quarter alone.

I said I didn't remember one, not that they didn't run one. But after that blitz of AA's got picked up... they stopped again... and obviously from GW's comments, they didn't run any in the first half at all.

Yeah. You didn't remember them probably because they were so unsuccessful.
