As much as I don't like the guy or his actions - I hope he finally will get the help he obviously needs.

The signs were there. He was a lonely man:

People that suffer from depression rarely show the outward signs we think they would. They often seem outwardly happy, can make jokes, smile, etc.. Ego has nothing to do with it. And depression doesn't have to fit into a personality type--it's a serious brain disease and not something people can overcome without help. I doubt TO or anyone in the media is "spinning" this to make a story. Obviously the initial spin was the allergic reaction story, because of the stigma associated with depression.

Now Deion and everyone is saying it is a false report. THIS IS REALLY surprising! I figured he didn't really do it and he doesn't need help either. This is all just a big misunderstanding, he didn't know what was going on. Hahahahaha. We all just knew Owens would come out and admit it right?????

I'm not sure if that was a dig at me or not. I will assume it wasn't.

For what it's worth, as a former prosecutor, I have reviewed tons of police reports...many of which, let's just say, weren't the most accurate documents I've ever seen in my life.

So, before you start bustin' my chops about my opinions, you should really understand the basis for which those opinions were formed.

My 2 cents

First, I hope he is Ok. Second, I don't think this is a media blow out. Third, after the Beagles fiasco last year, I can only think his Cowboys contract have stipulations that restrain his behavior and a guy with such a huge ego may have psycological conflicts that lead to such a decision.

I don't like the guy at all but I'm getting goosebumps watching the coverage on ESPN.

Like EB on the Sports Junkies always said the guy has a psychological issue and needs help.

I don't like Owens but he needs help through psychologists and not by killing himself.

Wow, it's been a looong time since I've posted here - but duty calls at work.

Anyway, I wanted to put in my My 2 cents ....

I was just browsing through the 'Boys forums, http://blog.dallascowboys.com/forums/thread/40756.aspx and most of them seem to think the media is blowing this out of proportion. Even after the corrected articles have been surfacing about an attempted suicide, they seem to be getting local news information that this may not be what it is.

For example, many have said that it is a crime to attempt suicide, and T.O. would have been charged, or at least held in the hospital whil the incident is under investigation.

Personally, I would rather wait until the full story comes out, but I just wanted to give the scoop on what I've heard.

Didn't we all expect something like this to happen at some point? The guy seems to be Bi-Polar or something. Either way, suicide is no joke; so if that is indeed what was attempted, I hope he gets help.

Well, it's good to be back (even if just for a post or two)!!! :D

ps.... I guess I lose my avatar if I haven't been around for a while?! What's the deal?

Its not a crime to commit suicide in the state of Texas. Also why the "allergic reaction" NOW after so many days???

I live in the Dallas area and have been listening to the radio. It does seem like suicide is less likely now. My brother is a Dallas County Sheriff's Officer. He said that after a person attempts suicide, they are not just treated and released. They are taken in for a psych. evaluation. T.O. and Michael Irvin are about to hold a press conference in front of T.O.'s residence.

I hope he's ok. In my time here in Philly and watching all the junk that happened over the last two years with TO the guys has problems. But, the Iggles did not treat him right either - Andy Reid and McNabb were babies about the whole thing.

By the way, living in Philly has taught me that the majority of Philly fans are not bad people and the radio waves are full of good thoughts for TO.

Think about it, if you were TO, if you were regarded as an equivalent to cancer in several football teams, Would you not try to kill yourself?

I would not condone it but I would not blame you.

I wish him a complete recovery even if I think he is the worst teamate in the league.

To have the history that T.O. has, it really has to be hard on the guy. Whether he brought it upon himself or not (he certainly did), to live under the microscope that he lives under day in and day out has got to be extremely stressful and/or very hard on the guy. Maybe he just finally "broke".

I hope this is not a suicide attempt and that it's all a mis-understanding. If it is, in fact, a suicide attempt, I really hope that T.O. gets through this and is able to recover from this whole ordeal.

Listening to his press conference. He denies trying to kill himself. Said he was groggy after taking 2 pills...then he later accidently took more that were with his supplements. His publicist saw an empty bottle and thought he was trying to kill himself. He said the rest of the pills were in a drawer. He wants to play on Sunday.

Yeah, can anyone come across more stoned/on crack that Irvin? What is his deal? How is he still on TV when it's freaking obvious? It's like Paula Abdul.

What the hell kind of supplement do you mix with Vicodin to kill yourself?
Antifreeze?
I can't see TO doing away with himself, period. I especially can't see him doing it with pills.
This guy, when he goes...is going with a bang.
No doubt in my mind. It's going to be something else.
This was just a stupid mistake. When a guy like TO (who has a personal staff that rivals most offices) doesn't ask the questions about what can and can't be mixed together, even with a professional football medical staff at his beck and call 24-7, it's just plain stupid.
He's a hell of a lot smarter today than he was this time last week, that's for sure.

Did you see Deion Sanders come out of T.O's house too? I wonder what it would be like being a fly on the wall in a room with T.O., Irvin and Sanders.

Irvin, the punk, lives such a charmed life. Who else could be such an obvious thug and druggie and get away with it?

Anyone remember that commercial he made for himself in 1994 where he talked about his big house and his big car and his big fur coat - he had the boxers of corner's around the league in a frame including Deion's when he was with San Fran. I remember that commercial was not advertising any product, just him the big pimp.

I hope he never gets in the Hall. If he gets in and Monk does not there is no legitamicy in football.

I've rambled enough - I just HATE him.
