The media love to "make news" but both of these guys have not proven to anybody in the NFL that they can contribute so it should not be that big a deal! It is just a coincidence that 2 more college kids did not make it in the NFL and both were #1 picks with the same team! Detroit must have some great college scouts!!!!
There were some here at THN that thought these guys were all world too!!!!!
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)
Not to go off track but where are all the posters that were crying in their beers when we passed on Mike Williams for Roggers... Is that a cricket I hear!

I wanted Williams, but how does this relate to the situation at hand?
I voted no, for character reasons. The guy is a borderline lunatic, and locker room problem.
We do have a kicking problem though, and it's hard for me to believe that there aren't any decent alternatives out there on the market, that would be an improvement over Hall. Hall is often injured, which would be a problem even if he was automatic on those occasions when he does play. For all the talk about preseason not being relevant, I have to make an exception for kickers and punters. There is no way that we can have any confidence in Hall after the preseason show that he's put on.
I am amazed that the Redskins have not found two better alternatives than Hall and Frost by now.
I doubt Tuna will cut Vanderjackmeoff (aka the idiot kicker), as he gave him a $2 million signing bonus. This is AWESOME to watch as a skins fan...TO and a high priced kicker with a case of the shanks....good luck boys!
As far as our situation...I vote we pick Nick "the quick" Novak for FGs then pick up this Ernster kid when the Broncos cut him next month (after Sauerbrun's 4 week suspension) to handle kick offs and punting...he's a star in the making...real live leg.
BTW I voted no on Vandercracker...he's washed up, a head case, and does not fit the Gibbs profile.

I'm not prepared to call a guy a bust after only 1 season. Heck, he's seen more game time than Jason Campbell, but no one would call JC a bust yet.
I also voted NO for a nomber of reasons but primarily because if he is released by the pukes there has to be a reason. There is no way that with this guy's potential and all that they went through (including financial incentives) that they will pass on this guy without a good reason. That is not something we will be doing either!
Rogers is just another case in point that sometimes these guys cannot handle the NFL and in most cases most teams will stay away from those risks. Some teams are just so far down the food chain that they will pick up anyone if they think it might improve their chances. Good organizations rarely take chances.

Good teams take chances on players. EX: we traded to move up in the 3rd rnd to take ey, a TE from a mid major. Evidently, Gibbs saw things others missed. Montgomery was listed as 7th rnd/FA on most boards. Gibbs saw something that made him worth a 5th.
We just traded for Rumph who has been a big dissapointment. Lloyd had plenty of critics last yr.
Trust our coaches to take good risks.
