Wasn't
Dan Turk the long snapper, NOT the holder???
Matt might still come back to play for Joe..... maybe.

Yes, Dan was the snapper. No I don't think Matt will return to the Skins.

It wasn't just a key game. It was the last playoff game before Gibbs returned. It also would've been a game-winning field goal as time expired against Tampa, if memory serves.
I remember being incredibly frustrated, but wasn't really angry at the Turks. It felt like the whole team was just poorly coached. A chance at a game-winning field goal in the playoffs and they can't even get the kick off is kind of a signature moment to me for the Norv era.
FWIW, I am truly sorry for the Turk family's loss, and Matt was a very good punter for us. I don't think he'll return to the Redskins either.

You guys are right about Matt's brother. He was a long snapper. And ...
I said I did not want to remember THAT game. I was sick all of the remaining week. I am getting sick as I type this post. Time to move on.

He was a wonderful kicker when healthy-- unless you predicted injury woes I'm not sure how you could gloat.

Hall's missed kick tonight was pretty bad. I have to say that of all the stuff I've seen this season it's special teams that have me the most concerned.

I -almost- share this view. But I do not. Unfortunately, I feel that the play of the OL has been another area of greater concern to me.
The sky is not falling, no. -But- I will wait for the first game of the season to say that we should stop worrying. I am worried.

Let's just hope that if Nick gets a job with someone else, it's not in the NFC East.

IMO the guy sucks. ARIZONA cut him. the FARM team of the nfl said bye-bye.....

dude doesn't have an nfl leg..... he has NEVER kicked a 50 yarder in a real game. NEVER. his longest has been at 40 yds for farg sakes. see for yourself.

Uh...you think the fact that they have Neil Rackers, arguably the best kicker in the league right now, had anything to do with it?
The fact that they even brought him in with a guy like Rackers says a lot.

Welcome and alll, but do some research. I actually did express concern about his health....I won't call it "predicting" since he already had several quad injuries when we discussed this before.

Actually, Novak was golden in the clutch from 50+ in college. The knock on him is that he kicks too low from long distance, and while college kids can't get up for the block, the pros did it three times.

NFL.com shows Novak at 1-1 for regular season FGs at 40+. Granted, that's only regular season; I don't know what he did in preseason this year or in '05.

Just ducking in while at work...anyone out there have time to research what cutting Hall would do to us cap-wise? I am not surprised Gibbs is publicly supporting Hall, as class is always Joe's style...BUT...I have to believe he is getting to the point (behind closed doors) where something must be done in the kicking game. Man, when Hall misses kicks, he doesn't just miss, he rope hooks/shanks them. I thought he missed that first kick on Monday night but somehow it lined in w/out getting blocked...OUCH!!
