4 out of 7, half would be 3.5 round it up you get 4, now that the math class is over - My point was he wasn't piling on he shows a nose for the ball. To say Rocky had a better game when he stood up one gaurd to get a assist and one solo other than that doesn't add up. McCune played like he wants to be here though.

Rumph still has to get past the likes of C. Morton on the depth chart and some are already sending Doughty packing. That don't add up either

Just teasing about the math. It's late & I'm getting a little slaphappy.

I thought Rocky & Doughty showed promise last night. I agree with you about McCune. I think that we should consider the fact that Rumph is primarily a CB & Doughty plays S. Rumph is more likely to replace Morton or Patterson on the roster.

Based on what I saw last night Rocky looked much more comfortable in the defense and looked like he could step in right away and start if needed. I was far more impressed with his performance than with Holdman's. Nothing that I saw from Doughty last night showed me that he could start for AA or ST if one of them got hurt. Sure he made some tackles but quite a few of those were a result of him getting beaten in pass coverage. Unlike some others I'm not saying that he should be cut. I hope he isn't because I think he has a chance to contribute to the team this season. But watching last night's game I was far more impressed with Rocky than with Doughty.

Rumph can play both safety and corner and is big enough to play in the box in some of GW's schemes...

If healthy

So does Rocky...

Only difference is Rocky is competing for time with Holdman and Reed D is just trying to keep up with ST and double A.

McIntosh was a guy that we went after, Doughty was there when it was our turn to pick. Both are rookies trying to make the team. Rocky came into a better situation

I hear ya man. I'm just not sure Doughty has the speed to play secondary in the NFL. It's early though, he's got a few more weeks to prove himself.

He's probably faster than Pat Fischer was. He also has very good change of direction. I don't think AA is a burner either. By the time the season starts, I think he will be ready as AA's backup. Prileau will back up ST.

Remamber he's making the jump from 1-AA to the NFL. Be patient.

1niksder, in one of your posts you mentioned that McCune played like he wanted to be here. I was wondering if you can elaborate on that a little bit. I totally forgot to keep an eye out for him during the game last night and was hoping that you could post some more thougts on his performance. I'm really intrigued by his potential.

He seemed to be reading plays well & was definitely hitting people.

You could tell he had been in the books, last year he looked lost, last night he didn't look out of place. You could see the improvement

In a recent interview our LB coach stated that he wanted more aggression out of specific players, McCune being one of them. I think he (McCune) definately took the advice to the bank.

I think Cincy did us a favor by running two flea-flickers in the first preseason game... Greg Williams probably told them to do it...

He let Rogers get burned last year against the Bengals and maybe it will have the same effect on Doughty or Wright.
I miss you 21.

God I wish we had a second round pick.

Who runs flea flickers in preseason? Those are plays you save for when it counts.

yeah at first I thought that was kind of low class, but I'm glad they did it... I can see running a trick play that you're not sure about how the defense will react to, so you can get some film on it, but the flea flicker has been around for a hundred years...

Not just low class but dumb. Now everyone on their schedule can study that tape.
