Brunell - Weak arm

Debatable. You dont break records with a QB that has a weak arm. His arm is good enough..., nothing spectacular but good enough.

I think arm strength is the most over rated quality in a QB. Remember Billy Kilmer? Roger Staubach? Bart Starr? Eddie LeBaron?

Kilmer often threw option passes. You had the option of catching either end of the ball.

I agree. That "weak arm" threw 36 completions of 20 yards or more, as well as 9 completions of 40 yards or more. Those numbers are comparable to just about any other in the league.

Good enough is a fine description. The only weak Brunell that we know was the one from our 6-10 season--the same year that Gibbs' offensive strategies seemed "weak."

I wouldn't call arm strength overrated, but it's one factor among many in considering QBs. Leadership, good decision-making, etc., also matter quite a bit. If a QB has a strong arm and little else, he's not going to be good, just like a receiver who's fast but has bad hands isn't going to be successful.

I've seen successful QB's without arm strehgth. Bad judgement, bad aim are another matter.

Arm strength is a relative term. I don't think I'd ever say any QB who had a successful career in the NFL was weak-armed.

I'm talking relative to other NFL QB's.

NOW you see what I am talking about?? Did you see that "15ish" yard out that your buddy Brunell tried to throw? Weak.

Those types of thows need to be on a rope (unlike a downfield bomb) and MB simply does not have the veloicty needed to get it out that far without putting some air underneath it.

This is what I am talking about. Have fun watching him try to complete these types of throws this year.
