This guys ignorance is astronmical which is still quite small compaired to the size of his a.. but I digress.

I fully believe that when he needs to meet a deadline he starts with the redskins then pulls some darts from under the snacks in his desk and randomly generates a bunch of BS by throwing those darts at a wall.

I would love for him to reveal his creditable sources, you know... Cookie Monster, the fat kid from goonies, and the hamburgerler.

Even if we assume that Patten will be a #4 wideout at best, if any of our top 3 receivers goes out with an injury, I will sure as heck be glad to have Patten as depth.

In my opinion, the loss of Patten was a major factor in why our offense seemed to 'burn out' last year.

And why exactly would we cut him? It isn't cap space. Could it be to replace him with the up and coming Taylor Jacobs?

Are we even going to have a set #1 and #2 receiver? Obviously Moss is #1 and should be on the field most of the time, but Lloyd, Randle El, and Patten all are talented and have different uses. Could there be plans to rotate them in different packages so it's more like we have multiple #2 or #3 receivers? Not sure if it's fair to grade them so rigidly if they all have value in their role in the offense, especially if we can afford them.

Personally, I'm sitting comfortable knowing that even if two receivers go down we can still field two decent wideouts.

• We're told the Bears might consider signing WR David Patten to a one-year contract if he's released by the Redskins, as expected, this month. The diminuitive Patten is a speed receiver with experience. However, Chicago might first give unproven wideouts Bernard Berrian, Justin Gage, Mark Bradley, Airese Currie and Rashied Davis a chance to show they can get the job done. Another option, we're told, could be Az-Zahir Hakim, because he's a more natural fit in the slot.

I don't think we'll cut him, but if we get a good offer & if 1 or more of the young untested WR on roster inpress the coaches we should consider a trade.

I don't know. Let's see what they offer.

As has been documented - last year we were most hurt (at season's end) by the fact that we were not deep enough with quality WRs. I would be surprised if we do not give everyone we presently have a chance to make this roster. I would think that someone with the experience and talent of Patten would be given a little more time and opportunity before we let him go for any reason.

stranger things have happened ....

Why would anybody offer anything? I don't understand why people always think that a player we don't want is going to be valuable enough to another team for them to make a trade. But that's making the assumption that Patten is not wanted - since that information comes from Fat Lenny, I choose to ignore it for the moment.

Because Fat Lenny told the world he would be cut Jun 1 he may come up on other teams radar. So they'll wait for him to be released, while players they could have used are picked up by teams that know Pastabelly writes most of his articles at the table that is closest to the Buffet Table at what ever restaurant that's having a all-you-can-eat special. Then the teams that waited will curse the Fatman as we redskins fans do and be willing to offer a low round pick if they can get him.

Had he not been injured last year and put up the numbers that he did, I'd understand why his name keeps coming up but he did miss part of the season and he did take some of the pressure off of Moss when he played last year.

I don't know Al Saunders but I think he might liks the sound of rotating Moss, Patten, Lloyd, and Randle-El better than Moss, Lloyd, Randle-El and Jacobs.

I think Patten will be cut if he is outplayed in camp but I don't see why he wouldn't make it to camp

What makes you think Jacobs is in the mix? I see Thrash as being ahead of him. Some of the young WR's might also pass him.

Redskins | Patten not expected to be released
Fri, 9 Jun 2006 17:23:08 -0700

Gary Fitzgerald, of Redskins.com, reports Washington Redskins WR David Patten, contrary to reports, is not expected to be released by the team in June. "It's totally untrue," vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato said. "I'll tell you what, David Patten has looked good out there (in OTA's). He's making plays. He'll get his opportunities."

We have no real incentive to cut him right now. We are, however overloaded at WR. If 1 or more of the young WR really develops (Fenner, Espy, Harris, Smith, Ron Johnson) we might need to open up a roster spot. Thrash is likely to stay for his ST play.

Someone in the Pats. F.O. maybe reading too much Fat Lenny...
Keep an eye on wide receiver David Patten in Washington. The Redskins got minimal bang for the buck on the former Patriot in 2005 and worked hard to upgrade the position this offseason (Brandon Lloyd, Antwaan Randle El). If Patten is eventually cut loose by the ’Skins, you’d have to think the Pats would give him a call.

I don't think we'll cut him, but maybe a team desperate for an experienced WR will make an offer we can't refuse.

This is the hardest time of year, between the OTAs and Training Camp. We have to put up with so much speculation because nobody who really knows what is going on is available.
I do not think that Gibbs is going to let anyone go for any reason who he thinks can help his team. Patten looks like being a part of a pretty good receiving corp and that is something we did not have last year.

Lenny is still just throwing stuff and trying to "make" some of it stick - what a fat loser :puke:

I'm sure cap wise it makes more sense to keep him than to let him go. If I remember correctly, next year would be his release year.
