Adam Schefter on Total Access just said Patten was a June 1 candidate, and they even flashed some pics of DPat. I don't see Gibbs giving up on the guy, if anyone it's Jacobs that goes.

It may not be "either-or", but "both &". we now have 13 WR's on roster. That means 8 will go. Obviously Moss, Lloyd & Randle have 3 of those 5 spots. I think Thrash will stay for his ST play. That leaves 9 playes for 1 roster spot. If some of the young WR like Fenner, Espy, Harris or Smithcan do the job, Patten & Jacobs may both be expendable.

i want to make a bet with you.. if patton is on the team for the home opener you have to change your name from yupchagee to assclown and if he gets traded ill change mine to assclown for one full year. hows about it?

I'm not saying Patten wil or necessarilly should be traded. I'm only saying that the possibility can't be dismissed out of hand. If I were a betting man (which I'm not) my bet would be that he stays, but I haven't seen enough about the above mentioned young WR's to know. Time will tell.

Capanomics -- Patten:

If he's on the team in 2006, he'll count $1.8 mil (plus $600K more if he hits a bunch of incentives.)

If he's cut or traded after June 1, 2006, and not on the team, he'll count 700K in 2006 and $2.1 mil in 2007.

Without a doubt, he won't be on the team in 2007 with his current contract -- he'll count over $3.0 mil. I doubt that Gibbs and co. ever thought he'd last beyond 2006 anyway.

I'd say he'll make the team in 2006 and get cut June 1, 2007. However, if another team cuts someone in the next few weeks that we really feel we need (e.g., a backup OL), we could free up just over $1 mil by cutting him, we might be tempted with our depth at WR.

NE is looking for a #2 WR. If they make a decent offer to get Patten back it might be hard to turn down. We are VERY deep at WR.

Hmmm. League sources say <whatever>. I'm more interested in what Joe Gibbs says.

Why is it bad to have depth at WR?

Did the team have too many receivers late last season?

It's not bad to have depth, but if we get a good offer for someone who is superfluous, it's worth considering.
