Wow, just another example of people not being able to leave threads seperated.

Carter is filling a position of NEED. Where ARE is an overpaid #3 reciever who's never produced at the NFL level.

Here's Carter's Scouting Report's from Insider:

2005 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 79 (Solid Starter, 80 is outstanding player)
Alert: Durability

Comment:
He has perfected his pass rush technique and has great use of counter moves to come back inside. He works hard with his hands and it is difficult for offensive linemen to lock on and stay locked on. He uses his long arms to create and keep separation and he always plays with great leverage. He always has his feet under him and he can accelerate on his second and third step and has great closing speed to the quarterback. He plays with a high energy level and is relentless in pursuit. His speed and quickness lend themselves very well to stunts and twists and he seems to have good instincts on the edge and has a nose for the football. He does not have ideal upper and lower body strength and has a difficult time maintaining control of the line of scrimmage verses the run game. He plays low and maintains good leverage but has trouble with double teams and the run game in general.

2006 Scouting Report
Grade 72 (Good Starter, as a WLB)
Carter made the conversion from DE to ROLB in the 49ers' 3-4 defensive scheme. He played in 14 games with 12 starts. He plays in regular sets as an OLB and sub as a rush DE. He is a tall muscular OLB with good overall athletic skills for the position. He is a competitive player with a good motor. In the running game, he has the size and strength to set the edge when aligning over the tight end on the line of scrimmage. He has good initial shock with his hands and the ability to hold the point and disengage and get off blocks. He can bend and play with leverage but at times doesn't play with very good recognition skills when reacting to blocking patterns. He has the speed to chase and close down off the backside. In the passing game, he is a high-cut player that struggles to lower his hips and change direction in open space. He has the ability to drop in underneath zones and understands coverage concepts, but doesn't play with a lot of zone awareness. He is a limited match-up player when covering the TE in one-on-one situations. As a pass rusher, he has good initial quickness and first-step explosion off the edge. He has good technique and pass rush skills. He has a long stride which enables him to cover a lot of ground. He has the speed and quickness to bend the edge and close on the quarterback. He has good active hands and relies on counter moves to gain separation. Overall, Carter is a starting OLB whose physical and athletic traits best suite a 3-4 defense. He is an interesting player that could fill a lot of different roles within a defensive scheme. He has some durability concerns after suffering a back injury in 2004.

Now why in the world did you read it here and post it elsewhere? I retract my comments about merging threads, what I obviously miss when I'm off being productive at work is the fact that people cannot seem to get over their own egos and must create a new post just to make themselves feel special.

Anyhow, back on topic. I am very excited about Carter, he's the type of guy we were missing last year and having him in our sights is likely a reason letting go of number 56 didn't hurt to much.

Oh and with all these new free agents I'll be at training camp everyday this year!!!!!!! Anyone here a dr. so they can write me an excuse!

I'm sure Williams will play to his strengths. I see some LB/some DE. I think he will be the Right DE in passing 3rd downs.

Why would it be different.
1. you have most of the post in this thread.
2. you always post the same thing

This was a thread that was tentative, lots of "will he" talk.

Now that he signed I opened a discussion about what his role would be, including scouting reports.

When this thread was started is was started to discuss the signing and it include a link that said he had signed.

Donkey McDonkerton wrote:Sorry if this is old news.

The Redskins are at it again, and this makes the second defensive signing. Defensive end/outside linebacker Andre Carter is schedule to fly to Washington and sign his brand new six-year, approximately $30 million contract.

a second link was provided within a half hour of the start of the thread.

KPrince1975 wrote:http://redskins.scout.com/index.html

and the discussion continued...

ATV wrote:That seems pretty expensive, doesn't it? Is this guy (Carter) worth it? I hope they know what they're doing.

it went over to a second page (meaning it had to be near the top of the board)

Steve Spurrier III wrote:Forbes also confirms the deal is done, but not yet signed:

Another confermation ( :hmm: everyone used the same thread)
But for some reason you needed conformation...

Skinsfan55 wrote:I would love for this to be confirmed...

You found it and posted it in this thread...

Skinsfan55 wrote:I'll be damned, http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2367445

My bad...

Then ran off and started this...
Carter Confirmation, Discussion on his role with the Skins
with the same link that you post here.

Now you say "I thought that thread was unique and different from any others. My bad."

How can you think it's unique or different if you put the same link in both threads?

Another GREAT signing.

I am loving the job our staff is doing.

I love this offseason more than 2000.

Why? Because we are loading TALENTED players with a TEAM FIRST attitude. And the players all play KEY positions that we needed to address.

This is so great.

All hail Eric Schaeffer! :hail:
