Britskin wrote:Its impressive how quickly we got this deal done. Thats the Number 1 need taken care of - now for DE! I don`t know a whole lot about Lloyd but it seems from what you guys have been writing that, rapping apart , he is a good fit for our needs. I suppose we could still acquire another WR through tha draft , unless we trade away our 2nd rounder - that would make the Draft a non-event for us. Any chance we might get anything in a trade for Taylor Jacobs ? I know , nobodys going to be interested - what a bust! Thanks Steve Spurrier.

Throw Jacobs to the wolves for all I care. He'll be fifth on the depth chart with Lloyd coming in (Moss, Lloyd, Patten, Thrash, Jacobs).

Rotoworld has this to say:

Redskins acquired WR Brandon Lloyd from San Francisco for a 2006 third-round pick and a fourth-round selection in 2007.
The deal is pending a physical. San Francisco wasn't enamored with Lloyd's inconsistent play and wannabe rapper career, but they aren't a team that should be giving up offensive talent. Washington continues to mortgage the future, but Lloyd fills a gaping hole at No. 2 receiver. If anyone can maximize his talent, it's Joe Gibbs. Just don't expect a Santana Moss-like explosion. Usually I love their editorials... but mortgaging the future?! Get real! It's a freaking 3rd round pick and a 4th rounder, not even in the same draft for a 24 year old wideout who fills our biggest offseason hole.

Ridiculous

Am i not mistaken someone can still offer him a deal b/c we just claimed him and that means he is still a RFA

I believe what they're saying is that we trade away too many picks. Two years ago I think we only had three selections in the draft (Tayler, Cooley and a 7th) and last year we traded up to get Campbell, the 2nd for Portis, and those are just the big mentions. So, we're consistently going into draft day with less picks than other teams.

Of course, Gibbs has been good at finding and devoloping talent in undrafted free agent rookies, so, it's not all that bad.

No. We acquired him in a trade. He's ours.

Yeah, we traded for him, but what about his free agent status??

When we traded for him, what happened?

We're probably going to give him a new contract like we did with Moss.

My gut tells me that Lloyd is not the last WR the Skins are gonna be signing this off-season. Keep your eyes open, folks. We're gonna get another one soon.

Here's a interview I found with BLloyd.com on IGNSports.

He seems pretty cool, like he should fit in fine with the guys, but the only thing that worries me is it sounds as if he tries/wants to go for those sick one handers. Now I don't have a problem with that as long has catches it, but going for a pointless one hander could cost us...

1. He was a Free Agent
2. He was given a qualifing offer by his current team(49ers).
that made him a restricted FA. This gave the 9ers the right to match any offer or get a first round pick for him.
3. The Skins wanted him but didn't want to give up a pick they did not have. So they talked the 49ers into a deal for a 3rd and a 4th next year. The 9ers agreed
4. With the Niners out of the way the Skins talked to Lloyd, they agreed on a deal and the They(Lloyd & the Skins) went back to the 9ers where Lloyd signed his tender (taking him off the market) and the 49ers then traded him to the Skins.

At the time of the trade Lloyd was under a 1 year contract and that will be extended to include a outrageous signing bonus. (I perdict his contract will be a little less than what Moss got last year BEFORE you add in 1 years inflation). Gibbs seems to have a pay scale that is take it or leave it and it's based on what guys already on the squad gets (based on position)

Welcome to the boards.
Patten will fit in likely as the #3, and will snipe about it until he sprains an ankle, goes on IR and then claims that the two games he played in were the only reason we went to the Super Bowl.

I like this trade. Think of it we got a starting reciever for probably the next few years for a 3rd and a 4th that sounds like a good deal to me.

The 49ers also could lose another free agent to the Redskins: Defensive end-turned-linebacker Andre Carter was scheduled to visit Washington on Saturday.

"It's a strange thing to be (ranked) 32nd on both sides of the ball and still have guys after your players," Nolan said.

Then it might not be the players that need improvement.
Adding Lloyd, and possibly Carter would be awsome. These guys are playmakers that just need a little better coaching to really show off their skills. Lloyd is going to be awsome next year opposite of Moss. I was rooting for Taylor J. but the he just doesen't seem to have that knack for making plays in games.

Or Detrioit.

However we have a better running game than both of them. Our offfens will be well balanced.

Best WR set in the league? I don't agree. While I like them I don't see them as the best. Like Jake said, Arizona. How about the Colts - Marvin H and Reggie W?
