I agree, if he restructures then keep him. But there is no way you can have that guy stay here with that contract when he's making twice as much as Marcus Washington and Washington is playing twice as good.
That might be a showing of just how great of a leader Gibbs is. Last year this time Arrington was talking about his contract grievance. If in less than a year's time Gibbs can bring the guy from complaining for more money to taking less money to stay here, WOW what a great leader.

Totally agree guys. If it benefits the team, I'm all for it. I have no loyalty to LA in particular because while he has "seemed" very loyal to the Fans and the team, he's getting paid big bucks, constantly hurt and playing at a lower level than his contract would indicate and has been a little bit cancerous in the last couple years.
Redo the contract to benefit the team as much as possible, stay healthy and do whatever the coaches ask and I got no problem with it.
It sure is nice when he is in there playing his assignments, flying around laying the smack down, I must admit

I agree.
I would like to see Lavar back next year, and I think the Redskins should pay him what he is worth. The problem is that based on this year's performance I do not think that he is worth what the Redskins are supposed to pay him over the next few years. Typically when a contract is restructured, the player still gets the big bucks, but the timing of the cap hit is adjusted.
What type of an adjustment does Lavar have in mind? Right now he is paid as if he is the superstar that the whole defense is supposed to be built around, even though that's not his role anymore. If he still expects to be paid the same amount, then a restructured contract that just delays the cap hit does the team no good. If Lavar is willing to live with a reduced salary that fits with his reduced role, I am all for it.

I like the guy too but "at all cost"

DON'T SING IT! BRING IT!
All i know is the one thing that hasnt been consistent are the reports that lavar is on the way out, usually it comes out in one form or another and its a hyped media thing.
The one thing that I have consistently heard with lavar is that he wants to be a redskin, he doesnt want to play anywhere else, and he wants to remain a redskin for his career. I heard that years ago during the making of this contract and i still hear that today, through all the media craziness i still hear that lavar WANTS TO BE A SKIN NO MATTER WHAT. I think with that type of commitment to an organization and the fact that he doesnt want to play anywhere else will make these negotiations alot easier than people may think.
