Yeah, no...I think LaVar has said that he's done all he can (or will) do as far as renegotiating goes.
To be really truthful...I'm still waiting for that latest moment where an Arrington play just knocks the wind out of you and makes you say, "Man, we gotta keep this guy...no matter what."
I've been waiting a while now.

You and I are in the same boat, re: waiting for that play. However, I will give him the benefit of the doubt of possibly coming up big for the Skins now that they're in the playoffs. This is unchartered territory for Lavar, and it may just be the spotlight he needs to showcase his talent. Granted, it might also be the time to highlight his shortcomings, as well, but, I'll hope for the former.

Can't see lavar giving us more than he has all year, mediocre half-hearted play, there we're a couple plays against philly where I said "shoot, in LA's younger days he makes that play" I believe most of'em we're pass rushes.
Put McCune in.

You've written such statements as:
Lavar Arrington is a great assett to this team... without his absence on the field we'd have never found out how much better than him his back-up is.
As far as being a "core Skin", no, I don't believe he is one.
I'm not crazy about Lavar anymore, but I guess it's good that he's taken a liking to the kid
Zero credibility people... just look for the orange posts and know that there will be nothing of substance.... EVER.

Awesome yeah... put McCune in.
Just out of curiosity, being that McCune was originally cut after the preseason, what on earth has he shown you to indicate that he's capable of STARTING, let alone jumping in in the middle of a wild card week?
His muscles?
Please... I'd like an answer... don't just trollip off to another thread. I wanna hear how McCune is definitely ready to jump in. What are you basing it on?

Having a bad day Boss? Couple of uncharacteristically harsh posts... I think the McCune comment was a tongue in cheeck way of making a point... lots of folks have been frustrated by Lavar while holding out high hopes for him at the same time...

Hey Boss Hogge,
What can ANYONE say about Lavar Arrington in the playoffs at this point in his career, huh? Honestly!
This is the first time he has more then 8 wins in a season, and who knows HOW he will perform under the spotlight. Will the pressure get to him? Will he rise to the ocassion? Your guess is as good as mine. The same can be said about a lot of cats on this team, but, finally, "the face" of the organization gets his chance to play when it counts.
Nothing I've said about Laver in my post indicates that my stance on him has changed. All I've had, up to this point in his career, to judge his performance on have been regular season games, a lot of which have been meaningless. Maybe he's a playoff monster, or the greatest choker of all time, whoknows? I will continue to take a wait and see approach for this game.

So where's this same commentary about any of the other players that have never playsed a playoff game.
This has nothing to do with playoffs, this has to do with you being a hypocrite and just flip-flopping your opinion to suit the soup de jour.
If the wind blows... you'll change your opibion on lavar. Know why? Because you don't really have any basis to your opinion in the first place. it's easy to change your mind when you're not using it to think.

To Redeemed's credit, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone on this site (staff included) whose opinion of/and or support for LaVar has been entirely consistent. Heck, the Redskins coaching staff even seems to look at LaVar askew from time to time. The roll call of people who have wholeheartedly backed or bashed Lavar from the outset would be very short indeed.

I went from...
*Indifferent - when he wasn't playing
*pissed - when he opened his mouth and wasn't playing
*mildly impressed - at his ability to make plays in the backfield
*content - with his play
*pissed - when he recently opened his mouth again
currently Im in transition between emotions on him...

Considering this thread is about Lavar, I'll keep Ade Jimoh out of this.
But, re: your question, here's what I ALREADY wrote:Will the pressure get to him? Will he rise to the ocassion? Your guess is as good as mine. The same can be said about a lot of cats on this team, but, finally, "the face" of the organization gets his chance to play when it counts.

Not at all. I'm not allowed to hold people accountable for what they say but the rest of you are?
Where is the tongue-in-cheek indicator in he McCune comment? Do you see sarcasm tags, a smiley?
No.
My comments on McCune have nothing to do with Lavar. I really want to know how a guy who has never played a regular season game at LB is going to be better than a guy that some of you don't think is 'superstar enough' but is still a helluva lot better option than putting in a rookie.
And that's without even getting into the fact that with mcCune being a MLB... I presume the move would be to put mcCune in the middle and move marshall outside. So now we'd have two guys playing positions they hadn't really played all yeart.
And you honestly think this is better than playing Lavar?
Ok, you're right. i'm just being harsh... had nothing to do with logical thoughts.

You can be as accusational as you like, but i fail to see how it's 'harsh' to expect someone to explain complete non-sense.
Newsflash... get used to it. I'm sick of seeing some of the members spout garbage and never be held accountable. Those that are, have been tainting this board's dialogue because of it. My obligation has to be to ALL of the Redskin fans... and in my mind, that means also creating an environment where 'nanny nanny poo poo' is not an acceptable or reasonable response.
I'm sorry if you feel it's unduly harsh, but I don't have time to make sure I don't step on any toes. More and more of you will start to hold people accountable for their drivel if I do it, and eventually, it won't have to be just a select few who use a modicum of sensibility.

I'm really not trying to risk your wrath here but calling out people for hypocrisy where LaVar is concerned would take up much of your time.

Accusational? Who's being accusational here? Tainting the board? Holding people accountable for drivel? Drivel, opinions, editorials, conjecture, speculation... that's what we do here. It's supposed to be fun. None of us are getting paid for our opinions... sometimes you get well thought out opinions, sometimes you get humor, and sometimes you get uninformed drivel... it's all good, we all want the best for the 'Skins...

Oh, okay.
It's very easy to judge when you have absolutely no vested interest in something I guess.

I am a fan of Lavar. I believe in him. I might be angry at times about allowing himself to be used by his agents or journalists but I -believe- in the person -and- the player, not the potential in the future but at present.
Lavar gets blasted by many when one thing comes wrong but if a hundred are right, few if any say a word.
Go Lavar!

LaVar gets plenty of support from the Skins at-large fan base, witness the reaction he got when he returned to the lineup or when he's around fans in general. I like LaVar, I'm also a fan, I've never suggested that he be cut or traded but to say I've been consistent in my attitude toward him would be a fallacy. And I do not think he's reached the extent of his potential. But, I agree 100% with your sentiment: Go LaVar! I'd love nothing more than to see him level Simms on Saturday.
Speaking of LaVar, I saw some flashes of what he can do against Philly, I think Tampa could be in for a rude awakening.

I absolutely support your right to your opinion, I just thought you showed more attitude than normal about something that I didn't even take as a serious comment, but maybe I read it wrong...
as far as your comment, about having absolutely no vested interest, I'll take that as a personal slam, and I'm sorry but you're wrong... I didn't spend 23 years in the military including 3 tours in the middle of a giant sandbox to have someone tell me I don't know what it's like to have a vested interest in something... I've been a 'Skins fan for almost 45 years, checking scores and news in the Stars and Stripes, sitting up and watching delayed games at 3 O'Clock in the morning on Armed Forces TV or radio, Spending my paycheck to go see 'em when they were close enough to go see in person... I enjoy and appreciate this forum and the easy access to information... forgive me if you felt, as a custodian of this site, that you were being held to a higher standard than the average "unvested" poster... it won't happen again...

Calm down dude.
I didn't mean you didn't know what a vested interest in something was... if I did, I likely would have said 'have absolutely no vested interest in anything'.
I was only referring to the something being THN the website... read what I wrote.
So your little temper tantrum was pretty unneccessary. Some might even say... harsh.

He talked a bit about that in the interview too. Saying that, before he was hurt, he just expected to get to the QB. And that there have been times, including the philly game, where he got there so fast he surprised himself and missed the sack. He said he needs to get back to having the expectation of reaching the QB that quickly.

I heard that as well, and I was taken aback by the fact that even HE was surprised at this. He hasn't been healthy in a loooooooooooong time, and, according to him during his interview, he's learned a lot under Williams' tutelage.
A healthy and more knowledgeable Lavar could definitely be a secret weapon of sorts during the playoffs. A Lavar like THAT could really keep D-coordinators up at night this month and into February. Let's hope this is the case.

I liked what Lavar said, but there was no levity or joy in his voice. He almost spoke in a monotone, seemed somber, serious, almost beat down. Maybe he was exhausted from the previous few days, but I've heard him more jovial and happy in his interviews with WTEM after games...
