So, what? We could get about 2-3 years out of him?

If he takes care of his body half as well as Ray Brown has at 43, I would say he has at least five more years left.

By the way, watch the joke played recently by several team members on Ray about his age:

Enjoy!

The thought of anything from Dallas makes my stomach churn but I dont doubt he'd give us his all. I wonder how he'd take to Gibbs anti-Cowpuke feelings. Our guys loathe the Pukes and it seems genuwine. I wonder how hard it'd be for him to do that if at all.
Don't kid yourself Chris. Money talks. A player will loathe anyone as long as they're getting paid to do so.

If Dallas offered anybody on your roster more money, they'd take it and not look back.

Same goes for the guys on our roster.

This ain't the 1970's.

I don't know PT.
I don't think any player on this team would go to Dallas.
Maybe practice squad but thats it.

No offense, but you don't know that.

All the guys that Gibbs has picked since he came back have been guys that they have pegged as guys who COULD be guys that would stick around even if better money came up elsewhere.

I agree that for the most part, guys will go where the money's at... but not everywhere (New England for example) and I think that's the kind of atmosphere and team that JG is trying to create here.

I can't say that nobody would bolt for better money and that we're 'there' yet, but I can tell you that there are a LOT of Redskins that buy into JG completely... and I think a lot of them will stick around longer for just that reason.

Obviously if there is a huge disparity in dollar amounts, then a guy's probably going to leave, but I think it's safe to say that in Redskinland, the majority of this team thinks they have something special here with Gibbs right now and would go an extra mile to keep it that way.

Experiencing the success the Redskins are experiencing this year is only going to fortify that as well.

My 2 cents

I agree Boss! This is a different franchise and I think some left because they stopped "believing"! I think that the recent "loss" of Bailey, Smoot and Pierce are to this point - this was not the same "team" and given the dollar amounts, they might have stayed to be a part of a successful franchise.

I also don't think you can say enough about how much fun some of these guys are having here and especially how Portis makes this so apparent with his Thursday "interviews". This is a fun team to be a part of and I think we are going to see that players want to be here. In the past it was ONLY because of the "bling" but now I think it's partly because "you can't have a ring if you don't have the "bling"!
This team is enjoying the rewards of a lot of hard work from before this season began and on through the season. There were some "questions" in the middle of this season, but now this team is playing with a purpose and together.

True. Very true.

Perhaps I should have said "The majority of players" because obviously there's still plenty that aren't just about the green.

Sadly, too many are...including a guy I once idolized.
