I like the guy, he's definitely a situational player... but as far as being a pass rusher... the odds are kind of stacked in your favor when you only line up on 3rd and long and blitz.

I don't think GW is losing sleep over the loss and I'm not going to either.

My 2 cents
Ok, then. name a better SITUATIONAL down pass rusher on our team.

Clemons is fast and good at finding the QB -- not doubt there. But he's a situational guy. McCune is fast and a beast, he might be a good slip-in. I also hope they resign Kasay to the active roster -- he's great. Either way, it's situational and we can plug someone else in there.

All Boss is saying is Clemmons is part of Greg's defensive scheme!

I think that the point is it's not about who it's a job/situation that someone else can fill and do it adequately!! Greg Williams has the depth with different people for their own roles that suit his scheme.

Yup, they're called "The San Diego Chargers". :?

Well other than for the sake of making a stupid comment, what is your rationale?

Other than his reportedly saying so? :hmm:

He did NOT say that. That is part of the venom in the article. Who suggested the "propsect" of him playing there? If Lavar had he would have been quoted. It was Elfin who suggested it. Snake!

Some of you people deserve the misery you get... a lot of it comes from not being able to read effectively.

My 2 cents

I didn't say there was a better situational pass rusher than Clemons... so what... yeah... he's the best situational pass-rushing linebacker who only plays on third downs that we have... happy?

So what? As stated... what I was saying is that we won't miss a beat without him IMO... not one... you won't even notice he's not there... like the 13 games that he DIDN'T have sacks in.

As for L.A saying that he was going to play for the Chargers... RiC already touched on it but if you READ what Elfin's article says, it says that not even all those things in San Diego would make Lavar want to go and play there.

But Arrington says nothing necessarily will keep him in pads and cleats next season. Not the prospect of playing in San Diego for his favorite coaches, ex-Redskins coach Marty Schottenheimer and assistant Greg Manusky. Not the prospect of playing for the Chargers alongside former Maryland linebacker Shawne Merriman, the protege Arrington calls "my baby boy."

I put the words that denote a negative response in bold for you.

This is without even getting into the relative validity of this or any other article.

:hmm: Here I thought this only justifies the point that he may retire at season's end. It doesn't say that he does NOT want to play for the Chargers or that he won't; it simply implies that that incentive alone of doing so might not be enough to keep him from retiring. Lavar is no dope, he most certainly must be keeping his options open, and, judging from comments he's made about his favorite coach he's ever played for (Marty), I wouldn't call his playing for San Diego hog wash.

Didn't say it was Hog Wash that he could play there... said it was Hog Wash that HE SAID that he wanted to play there next year.

Big difference.

And i still see nothing more than a misinterpretation of an obvious sound byte.

Tell me... where are the quotes? Do any of you ever think to read an article and look at what is in QUOTES.... because that means that those are the only words that were SAID. All the filler around it is just that.... filler... and often it's filled with conjecture, and hype and sensationalism.

Let's bring this back to Clemons though and leave Lavar discussions for the Lavar thread shall we? We're splitting two separate topics here.

And let's not forget that quotes are typically not given with the time, date, and circumstances in which they were said. Just like you and I would not want to be quoted out of context I'm sure professional athletes don't appreciate it!

True dat.

Back on topic, I hope Clemons comes back stronger next year. We're really gonna need him.
