Thanks iniksder! Is anybody paying attention? We cannot just say "he's gone"! What am I missing?
Why are these people saying that we can "carry" that hit?
Until recently, Snyder & Allen have made a lot of really bad decisions - nobody with any sense believes this franchise will get better under their guidance
Snyder's W/L record = 45% (80-96) - Snyder/Allen = 41% (59-84-1)

We have some hardened vets on that defense and just because they may start doesn't mean that their experience doesn't lend to our younger guys.

Marshall is leading the team in tackles. He filled Pierces shoes completely in contrast to last year. Our rep of stuffing the run holds true from last year. Marshall wasn't the reason for our D dropping in ranking it was our lack of a pass rush. Our blitzing was not as effective since people had tape and time to plan against us unlike last year.

Ray is not worth the money or messing up the teams chemistry. Ray became ineffective when the Ravens werent able to keep people from blocking him.

CLL you kinda missed my point, though I could have expressed it better. I meant that assuming Arrington goes, Marshall is a good bet to replace him and play extremely well for us. I don't want to spend an entire year with Holdman (the black hole of playmaking) as our WLB. But, we don't know if McCune is ready to play and start from day one in the middle, which would create a void.

And we do have leaders on this team, I never said we don't. We just don't have really nasty attitude people, which we all know Ray is. I mean Ray will kill you if you mess with him. He's done it before...I know, I know, allegedly.

And to be honest, the guy is one hell of a student of the game. One reason Ed Reed is so good is that he picked up on Ray Ray's insane late night film study sessions.

Assuming Arrington is cut I think his position needs to be upgraded. Why? Lemar would have to re-learn the position after becoming fluent as MLB. Whoever takes Lemars spot would have to learn to be our QB and to make the correct audibles as the offense audibles. Lemar needs to be left alone so that he can grow and mature into that position imo.

Lets not forget, Williams a the master of plucking a no name player into a starting role.
Pierce
Lemar
Garnell Wilds (covered R. Moss last year)
Our entire defensive line.

As far as Im concerned our defense is nasty enough. We dont need Ray for that. We have Sean Taylor! Sean Taylor is just as nasty as Ray ever was, he plays with the same reckless abandon.

I understand your points but I dont feel that Ray is worth the trouble. Bringing in Ray will cause us MASSIVE money, and create a rift with players. Whats one of the main things Skins (Fred SMoot) complained about? They NEVER got a chance to be promoted, every year they were being stifled and not allowed to grow. Lets grow our own talent for once. Lets stop taking everyones sloppy seconds and trying to make a hearty meal out of it.

everybody whose made an argument against drafting ray lewis on this thread has made valid, persuasive, & articulate arguments. but, in my humble opinion, let's not dismiss the contribution lewis can make. he is close friends with arrington, & the 2 can get some chemistry going. also, if he feels that he's been treated unappreciatively by the ravens franchise, it might not cost us much to get him. you guys are not the only ones who thinks he's washed-up. GM's on other teams probably feel the same way. furthermore, if we make it to the playoffs; uhmmm, sorry; when we make it to the playoffs (harbor no doubts,) whether we go all the way or not, arrington won't be in such a hurry to leave being cognizant of the potential a gibbs football team has in embellishing his career further. the guy might have some beef with the redskins oraganization, but he has always displayed a deep respect & love for gibbs.
lets not dismiss lewis so soon.

Im totally dismissing Lewis. If Lavar can't play with intensity wihout Ray Ray being "drafted" than he needs to be cut too. Lavar is not a child, he doesn't need playmates. He has tons of chemistry with players on this team. Usually I can understand and find some compromise but I totally disagree with any notion to bring in Ray.

You say lets build chemistry!
You're going to destroy chemistry by bringing in someone WE DONT NEED. You will fall right back into the motions that caused PLENTY of players to leave and hate the Skins. Bailey, Smoot, Peirce all had negative things to say about player management when they left, it wasn't only the money.

Ray Ray:
He does NOTHING to help the pass rush.
He has shown that if you can't keep the linemen off of him he IS NOT as productive and that was in his prime.
We bring ray in and we stll get burnt up by WR's and QB's who have too much time to throw the ball.

What will we have accomplished? We dont have a lot of cap space. We only need to buy wut we need.

1. DE
2. WR
3. Depth at X position

As usual CL we see eye-to-eye.

BTW- that depth at "X" position needs to be O-line first. Followed by DB's and D-line.

Agreed, this is about as likely as hiring Bill Parcells as our new OC when he gives up on Dallas. Why let a highly-paid veteran go and take a monstrous cap hit just to sign another highly paid veteran with an equally massive contract to fill his position? Besides, didn't he kill a guy 8)

Now see, I completely agree, I think we have more pressing needs than LB, by far. I think Chris Clemons will turn into a pretty good player as he matures, for example.

Defensive end, is a position of high need, we need another wide receiver, and it'd be nice to have more depth at offensive line. I'd also like another cornerback to develop, since Harris is not really a good starter, and Springs is top notch but getting a bit long in the tooth. I also wouldn't mind an ass-kicking TE for blocking.

Pretty happy overall. My point only was that Ray Lewis COULD help this team. But he isn't the person I'd target or overpay for.

We already tried the star MLB thing. Remember Trotter...blarg.
