Rober Royal HAS GOT TO GO!
I dont understand why he was still playing, why didn't they just put in Johnson? He had one catch I remember, he has to better than Royal.
On a side note, I aws so happy to see Rogers replace worthless walt.

Don't forget Sellers was down as well. So that left us with few options at TE/H-back.

Most of us have trashed Robert Royal in this thread. apparently he trashed himself also with self-guilt and assumed his responsibilty before the team.
BUT Joe Gibbs taught me YET another lesson in life today. How do you treat somebody when that person is being put down by others and himself?
He could not have spoken more highly of ALL his players on Monday's interview. Truly Joe Gibbs vintage. Man, I am humbled by the way he stands behind his players. I know I would die on the field for him if I was a player given a chance for a come back under these circumstances.
I am not sold on Robert Royal. He still has A LOT to prove. But if my coach ratified him as the starter, I will suppport him next week as the 12th player on the field.

Nobody's slamming Royal as a person. I'm sure he's a stand-up guy, but... HE CAN'T CATCH... HE'S A RECEIVER IN THE NFL, AND HE CAN'T CATCH A SIMPLE DUMP PASS... HE HAS 10 RECEPTIONS AND HE'S BEEN THROWN TO 26 TIMES (Sellers has 10 catches and he's been thrown to 13 times running nearly the same routes)... GARO YEPREMIAN LOOKED MORE COMFORTABLE WITH THE BALL IN HIS HANDS...

I dont care if Robert Royal saved kittens from a blazing inferno. Robert has had SEASONS to improve. This isn't Gibbs fault, its not the scheme, its not the coach rotation or Spurriers fault. Robert cannot catch and thats not a lesson to be learned in a scheme.
Robert is just a fat Rod Gardner. He needs to go during the offseason.

Dang Royal isn't cut yet!!!
Nor is Frost!
I really don't want either of them on the roster vs. St. Louis, the only thing they are good at is sucking.

I stand by my statement even if I agree with you:

Joe has something in mind that we have not seen. Remember when we trashed Brunell last season. He did otherwise then.
All I am saying is that I agree with you about hm being cut BUT if my coach says otherwise, I will support him on the field every time.

RiC,
I admire your loyalty. But Royal is paid to do a job and he consistantly fails.
I do hope you are right. If not he MUST go.

Rod caught half the passes thrown to him. RR dropped 75% of the balls thrown his way.
Both are sure to drop it if it hits them in the HANDS though

I know I am on the losing side of this argument. I do not like his play. He has done little if anything ever to make me a fan of his.
All I am saying is that if my coach puts him in, I will not welcome him with BOOOOS! I will cheer for him and support him all the way on the field.
I will trash him badly in this thread afterwards if he did not reciprocate in kind Joe Gibbs' trust in him. But at game time ... Go Robert!

Man, another week with Royal and Frost on the roster. Hopefully
thiswill be their last games... unless Royal goes for 10-150-2 and Frost avgs. 55.7 net yard punt avg.

Such violence... "cut his ass", "cut his butt". Sounds kind of sado-homophobic, if you ask me, which I realize no one has, but... and that's "but" with one "t", not two.

I was at the Rams game and I was watching Royal in the pregame warm-ups... I was surprised how much more athletic and comforatable he was catching the ball in practice before the game... after watching that, I concluded that he must really be afraid of contact in game situations... sure enough, on his first catch (I don't how it looked on TV), but it looked like he did a little double take when he caught the ball, then when he realized nobody was there he turned it up field. After that it seemed like he got a little confidence and seemed more assertive when the ball game his way (I think he caught 3 in a row)... That being said, I still have no confidence in him making any sort of tough catch in traffic, he still seems timid in those situations...

Well I'll give both Royal and Frost their dues... they were better on Sunday.
Royal had a much better game, and yes, it's amazing how big and athletic RR is when you see him up close... he certainly has all the physical tools to be a tight end in this league... but he's had plenty of time to prove it and thus far, has not IMO. With him being a FA this year... these last 4 games may be his last in the b&g.
Frost had a much less horrible game but there were still a couple of groaners.

I agree 100% If RR can play like that every week I'd keep him. ONLY one glaring problem stuck out to me Sunday in his play. He still shy's away from contact.
