I watched the replay of Bell's second TD and there was an illegal block in the back from Denver TE Jeb Putzier on Marcus Washington.

No call on that of course and that block sprung Bell for a TD.

Go back and watch the play again if no one believes me.

I'm still getting over the "offensive pass interferrence"... I don't think any team in the NFL gets flagged for that one - just us.

I have NEVER EVER heard in my life Joe Gibbs to be as emotional and angry against the refs as he did in his press conference yesterday.

He basically called the safety reversal a "mistery". But he also said that the safety was not the only dubious call in the game. He objected to the penalties that negated our TD and a big 30 yard run by Portis.

This was done AFTER he watched the tape of the game!

Mora Sr. said that he suspects that Joe might be fined by the NFL. I thought that was stupid but the NFL is the NFL.

Overall, it has been a couple of terrible weeks for the zebras.

I wouldn't blame the refs, but they never seem to err on the side of caution by not calling something that they aren't sure that they actually saw. Instead, they call something and stick with it regardless, frickin ridiculous. We got some breaks on the last drive of the 4th quarter too. Our run defense blew this one.

I would however, say, albeit speculatively, that Arrington would not have whiffed at Bell on that long TD run as Holdman did. Holdman blew that tackle and that was big.

Our defense has slipped to 20th against the run, and if you look at the numbers in the Post, it is clear that those two plays really blew the game for us.

We had 28 First Downs to their 17
3x as many passing yards
and dominated time of possession by 7 minutes, meaning we held the ball for a half of a quarter longer than they did, outgained them but lost because of big plays.

I know Arrington is as good as gone, and sitting him might be the right decision, but when you bench a player of his caliber in favor of a guy like Holdman, then you have to expect that his play will be scrutinized, and Sunday he didn't show a darn reason why he is worth it.

Even forgetting the negated 3pts, and the negated 2pts, and even the negated 7pts, we still would have won this game 19-7 or even 19-to if we don't give up those big runs and that is uncharacteristic of this team.

Before the Sunday games on the Fox Sports Net pregame show where they were mentioning players who needed to prove something one of the guys said "the referees." He said that there is no consistency and not only have they blown calls but blown games too such as the Tampa/Detroit game.

Then Sunday happened and around the league I saw the WORST officiating that I have ever seen. That Baltimore game was rediculous! Please, that Suggs hit wasn't late and he had every right to be angry at the official. Then his helmet touches the tip of the ref's cap and he gets ejected. That game was a complete farce!

So was ours! However, we did get some big plays in our favor such as the Moss sideline catch that wasn't overruled. Also, what is the point of replay when the refs seem to almost always make the wrong calls. What are they watching? I think there has to be a guy with a high def TV and the finest AV equipment available up in the booth who reviews this, not some idiot ref who has already blown the call looking into some rediculous little box. Also, the NFL has stressed many times not to blow questionable plays dead and yet it always happens. Because of this and the stupid regulations in the replay rule most of the worst calls don't even have a chance of being reversed.

So then yesterday on Monday QB on ESPNews Ditka said officiating had reached an alltime low. They also showed that since 2000 the amount of penalties has greatly increased every year. Ditka said something to the effect of "don't call something that you imagine happened, pay attention and give yourself a second to make the call." In baseball, umps are told to do this because it is so tempting to make a snap judgement and make a call before the play has actually been completed - you think the runner is going to be out by a few steps but then the 1st baseman drops it.

This is ruining football and it seems like EVERYONE, fans, media, players, coaches,... sees it except for the NFL who just keep adding dumb rules and confusing the game even more.

Also, how is it possible that the Plummer pass was the tuck rule IF THE BALL WENT BACKWARDS!!!!!!! That call was just awful especially if you consider the Harrington "fumble" where Kevin Jones picked it up and went to the Baltimore 1. I don't know if anyone saw that but he threqw the ball forwards and somehow that's a fumble even after review! Unbelievable!

bell comes around the corner, and there is 53, marcus washington being occupied by a blocker but has a chance to make the play if he can shed his block. then 86 putzier on the broncos who is sort of "lead blocking" for bell SHOVES MARCUS WASHINGTON FROM BEHIND. and i mean FROM BEHIND, literally exactly 100% behind him, not even at a tiny, tiny angle, let alone from the side, and especially not from the front. and it was not a tap, he put both hands on his back and took at least a few steps while pushing washington in the back!! somehow, he managed to still stick and arm out and get an arm on bell, who then slipped away to run off for the TD.

HOW ON GOD'S EARTH WAS THAT NOT CALLED??? WE GOT COMPLETELY SCREWED. WE WON THE GAME.

Such excellent points and unfortunate truths you present. I'm sure The Great Washington will use this to continue his 100% fired-up mentality every game, and so will the rest of the never-quit Redskins use it to fuel their lasting, boiling fire and blood to catapult to only more victories.
