Gibbs is very conservative.
Brunnell gives the team the best chance not to lose the game, partly because he rarely throws the ball more then 5 yards.
Ramsey gives the team more of chance to score; because he can open up the offense with his arm.
I am not a Brunnell fan but will admit he looked good in preseaon. BUT, the Brunnell I saw Sunday was the same Brunell from last year. The INT/Pass Interference throw he made was the exact throw he made last year against the Ravens that cost the skins the game. A floating jump ball; and note our WR do not have the size to go up and get the ball against DBs in the NFL.
I disagree with the decision but Gibbs has made decisions in the past that were unpopular.
For all the excitement that Joe Gibbs has given me and this franchise, he certainly has the right to change his mind anytime.
I hope we see the Brunnell from Preason and not the one from last year/Sunday.

i'm totally against what Gibbs did to Patrick, but after watching the press conference i think there may be more to it. Do you think Gibbs asked guys on the team who they wanted in? Like maybe Santana and Clinton?

I have always been a big Ramsey fan. It is hard not to because of all the abuse he has taken from playing under Spurrier, his big heart, and his big play potential. I was really upset when I read that Gibbs was benching Ramsey in favor of Brunell, simply because I didn't believe Ramsey got a fair shot this season. I completely trust Joe Gibbs and I still don't think Ramsey got a fair shot like Brunell did, and the timing really stinks, but Coach did it for a reason. Ramsey doesn't look comfortable in the pocket at all, he takes way too many sacks, turns the ball over all the time, doesn't give off an air of confidence, and he simply cannot lead this team anymore for whatever reason. (See Spurrier) Brunell isn't the answer either, but watching Brunell play I have to give him one thing: he looks very comfortable in the pocket. Brunell looks like he isn't scared, and he seems to have a confident demeanor about him. Ramsey just can't get it done and Gibbs doesn't have the time to keep hoping that Spurrier doesn't keep giving him nightmares everytime he gets under center. Saying all that I think we will find out very quickly how Brunell reacts Monday night versus the Cowpukes.
I hope Sean Taylor lines up at wideout and draws coverage from Roy Williams and smashes his ass too the ground

Perhaps the TEAM is more confident with Brunell at QB. Certainly the coaches have a feel for what the players thinking. Our defense has never pointed fingers at the offense, but that can only last so long. The TEAM needs a leader they can count on and maybe they don't feel, deep down, that they can trust Ramsey to simply NOT MAKE MISTAKES. It's no longer about finding a QB who can pass for the most yards but finding a leader who will not make negative plays that lose games.
I trust Gibbs. Nobody else has delivered three Lombardi Trophies to our franchise. There is no one I'd rather have coaching our team.
Hail Redskins...BEAT DALLAS!!!!

I actually admire most of the posters on the site for having such passion about the Redskins. But, it's time to turn our attention towards Dallas and look towards the future. I'm pretty sure that the players and coaches have already started focusing on Dallas. We need to as well.

I completely trust Joe Gibbs.
I do not like how he handled this QB situation recently. I think he wanted to give Ramsey an opportunity to start and was concerned with what he saw and with how well Brunell was playing. Brunell offered him the sort of leadership that he was not going to get from the more talented Ramsey but Ramsey made the mental errors that Joe could not stand. My concern now is that we have Ramsey as the back-up and he can not be feeling that good about anything. I hope we get someone else in here to be a back-up before we have an even worse situation develop. I also wonder why Patrick would want to be traded when there is a very good chance he could be our starter in the next game!
We have to hope that if Brunell gets injured then Ramsey will go in and do a great job - We will be looking at a back-up with little to no preparation. Gibbs should not allow Campbell to be ruined before he is ready to play. But after what he just did, I guess nothing should surprise me.
This is dallass week and I just am so looking forward to this defence playing against that offense that almost anything else is not going to bother me too much! I think that the Chicago d is better than dallass so maybe we get a bit of a break there - pardon the pun!
Like I said - I trust Joe Gibbs and I still think he will get us to the playoffs. There are a lot of other teams with a lot worse problems and showing less teamwork than we are right now!

I agree with that.Stay focused for monday.A lot of people do not agree with the coach's choice but don't hold it agaisnt brunell or the team. The team has a differnt q.b. thats all.I look foward too seeing a healthy brunell and shotgun system at work.
