Brunell did not look great, but I certainly understand why Gibbs has more confidence in Brunell than Ramsey.
One more thing to remember, Brunell threw exactly one pass in the fourth quarter (which he completed for eleven yards). You can't blame Brunell for not producing offense when Gibbs puts the offense on cruise control (which he should have - barring a turnover, there is no way the Bears were going to score on our defense).
Face the facts...

We cannot hitch our wagon to Ramsey. He is a career backup no thanks to Spurrier. I agree that our best chance to win is with Brunell. Ramsey can backup and they can start to groom Campbell. The skins will be fine. Gibbs is starting to right the ship!

this is not as absurd as people might think. we've all ranted and raved about the disfavor ramsey has fallen into with gibbs and his staff, and face it, you play the better player. i am a ramsey fan, and i do believe he can get it done, but not here. he has asked for a trade through his agent, and he will hopefully get it, maybe go to arizona and back up kurt warner or something.
its not surprising that this move came about: Gibbs announced patrick as his starter before he saw what brunell could do when healthy: 1) Manage a game like a vet (after all, hes going to be 36), 2) make plays when we need them (albeit ramsey hit three third down completions in a row), and 3) be able to throw the ball down the field better than before. he was brought here for a reason, and how many of us honestly expected him to sit on the bench for that kind of money. this is a business, and as much as i hate to say it, gibbs has been sucked into that business. it sucks for the ram, but i feel he can have a great career somewhere else, becuase i love the kid--i have his jersey beacuse i thought he would stick around. i think the only thing i can do now is get a personalized jersey of me, beuase i know i wont get traded, cut, or retire any time soon
sorry if this post seems really disorganized, AP Government is killer..try reading the federalist papers afte rjust waking up--not a good situation.

I agree.
I wonder where Ramsey will end up after this season?

I hate to see Gibbs turn from Ramsey so fast. He has made his share of mistakes, but there is something about Patrick that I like. Maybe it is nothing more than potential, but I wish he had more of a chance. And who is to say that Ramsey won't be back in week three (or even monday night...this is football, stuff happens). But for now, it looks like Brunell is the man that Gibbs has fait in. Gibbs...the coach that won us three Super Bowls. We should trust Gibbs and support Brunell while he is the man.

Ramsey looked bad in training camp, looked bad in preseason, and looked bad yesterday. How much time do you want to give him.

Can we remove the second Fumble? The guy was close line and slammed down on the ground. I don't think any of us here could have held onto that ball. I would be happy to have held onto my head.

thank you! can someone answer that question? I love the kid but he has had plenty of opportunites and everyone knows that.

i say trade ramsey to arizona...kurt warner blows and needs a successor, and i doubt mccown can get it done.
i dont necessarily thing that our best chance to win is with brunell, i think our best chance to stay in games is with brunell, he makes less mistakes and knows that its ok to throw the ball away instead of force it.

Brunell is far from perfect.
I'm maintaining that something happened in the locker room at half-time following the injury. It must have been pretty big.

But how can you say Brunell looked good?
If it was not for Portis yesterday, we probably would have lost the game because Mark Brunell can not move the chains.
He can not hit WR in stride which takes away Moss/Pattens ablitity. Then we will have to go back to those stupid 1 yard hitch plays because that is the only way Brunell can throw accurately.
Remember those big plays Ramsey had with Moss... well do you remember all the big plays Brunell had with Moss?
I can't either.

I just disagree with the timing. I feel more comfortable that Brunell won't blow games for the skins. I feel Ramsey is more likely to go out and have a 300 yd, 3 TD performance and help the team win. We probably don't need that though with this defense and with Portis. I just worry how it plays out in the locker room. Does this officially end all ties to the Spurrier era? For that, I am glad. Good luck Patrick and I am sure we'll see you down the road somewhere.

he can't hit a receiver in stride...didnt he hit cooley on that crossing pattern for 23 yards? please people, i love ramsey, but the kid has had his chances and only showed flashes, no consistency. kwame brown, anyone? let's see how this works out, don't write off the old man yet, he's still got something left.

The bottom line is Patrick cant finish. He throws too many picks, cant move away from the rush, and is fumble prone. I dont think Brunell is the answer either, but I think he is better than Ramsey, at least in this offense. I personally think the best QB is Campbell, and would love to see what he can do.

I just heard on ESPN that Morten Anderson is reporting that Patrick Ramsey has asked Joe Gibbs to be traded.
Never trust anything you hear from a kicker...

I think the biggest deal with Patrick is that he causes too many turnovers. Turnovers destroy games. Gibbs has talked about this since last season. I think he's had enough. Remember, Ramsey caused three turnovers in one half.

How many turnovers did 8 game Brunnel have for touchdowns last year? I lost count. Ohhh and fumbles.

Well it seems that way so far anyways.
