I'm surprised no one is calling for Campbell yet. I say let's get this show on the road and let the new guy start on Monday night in front of a national audience.

not be nit-picky, but we trusted him last year when he put Brunell in ...and we all know how that went....I hope Jason Campbell is picking up the game, because he might be in there by week 5-6......

If the coaches think Campbell gives us the best chance to win, I would have no problem with them doing that.

Does everybody who wants Ramsey to start believe he should because:

A) He gives us a better chance to win
B) He deserves his chance to start
C) Both

I think Ramsey should start for both A and B. Firstly, Gibbs stuck with Brunell through half a season last year even though Brunell's play was PATHETIC. Ramsey deserves his chance to lead this time and one quarter of one game is not nearly long enough. Secondly, Ramsey gives us the only chance that we have of winning in Dallas. The Cowboys have a very good defense and a much imporved offense and we're going to have to put up points to win. With Brunell at qb the Cowboys will simply stack the line and Portis will have nowhere to run because Brunell doesn't have the ability to get the ball to the wide receivers downn field. What was the point of bringing in speedy receivers if Brunell is going to be the qb because he can't get the ball in a way to best use their abilities. We might as well start Campbell at this point....

I believe Gibbs knew what was best for the team last year as well and played who he thought was the best player at every position.

I'm not going to second guess the man who made this fine franchise what it is. Without him were back there with Philly :)
God bless our troops and Joe Gibbs.
We'll miss you, Joe.

Well I guess we'll be seeing those Ramsey Jerseys on sale soon. I honestly can't say that I disagree with Gibbs. At little quick on the trigger, yeah maybe. But I don't think he was going to let the season go down the drain by waiting too long to make the move. He just saw the opening to make the move and took it. Ramsey looked less than impressive to start out but then he statrted hiting some passes that looked good. Not to rely too much on history but didn't Gibbs have a similar situation with Schreoder & Rypin? worked out pretty good for the team in that situation. Gibbs knows what he has with this team. A copy of the 2000 Ravens. A stiffling D that needs the offense to run 7-10 plays and get some points, and NOT turn the ball over.
I would have liked to see Ramsey get a bit more of a look, but hell the way the Skins fans were booing Ramsey is this really a surprise?

Why? So, next week a bunch of people can start calling for the punter to come in as our savior as QB? (sarcasm)

If Gibbs was going to pull the plug on Ramsey after one quarter of play, why did he even bother saying he was the qb in the first place?

You want Ramsey to fail but you dont realize it. You want him in there at 40% health so that he can lose the game for us and hurt his chances even more. Of course he's going to see he's ok, I said those same words when I played ball and I was just as dizzy as possible.

How can Ramsey lead us to victory if he can't FREAKING TURN HIS HEAD TO SEE A WR??!?!

I sprained my neck not nearly as bad as Ramsey did before and it hurt for weeks. Besides Brunell did not look all that bad yesterday and he was able to move around more than Ramsey seemed to. I think we will be fine.

Is Ramsey injured or not? What did he say about Ramsey's injury? Did he say Brunnell is the starter for the rest of the season? Did he say Ramsey is hurt for five more weeks? Did he say that Ramsey is fine, but Brunnell is a better quarterback?

I really want to know why he's made this switch. Not just that he made it.

Let's take a bet on if/when Brunell gets as many passing yards in an entire game as Ramsey did in one quarter yesterday. So much for 50 yard pass plays to Santana Moss...

The only reason Brunnel is starting is due to injury. Ramsey will be back in week three hopefully. At quarterback your head must be on a swivel. You have a group of fellas on the other side of the ball trying to take your head off. Once he is healthy he will be back. The amazing thing to me is Ramsey was able to survive the Spurrier era, and now that he is actually protected he can't stay healthy. Go figure.

I have a question. I am working third shift so only caught the last five minutes of the game. My question is this. Is the hit on Ramsey being viewed as a cheap shot or was it legal.

Brunell to Start at Dallas
By Gary Fitzgerald
Redskins.com
September 12, 2005

Mark Brunell will start next Monday Night's game against the Dallas Cowboys, head coach Joe Gibbs has announced.
"I'm looking for someone to establish himself as our quarterback," Gibbs said.

Asked about what he has seen in Brunell during the offseason and the preseason, Gibbs said: "He's been confident and sure."

Ramsey played three offensive series in Sunday's 9-7 win over the Chicago Bears. On his second pass attempt, the throw was off target and intercepted by defensive back Nathan Vasher.

On his third offensive series, Ramsey was tackled hard by Bears' linebacker Lance Briggs. Ramsey fumbled the ball on the play and it was recovered by the Bears.

Ramsey suffered a neck sprain on the play and had to be helped off the field.

Brunell took over and was 8-of-14 for 70 yards.

Asked if the decision to start Brunell was related to the neck sprain, Gibbs said: "I think Patrick's fine."

Gibbs has been frustrated with turnovers all preseason and the problem has carried over into the regular season. The Redskins turned the ball over three times in Sunday's win.

Ramsey's physically fine.

I guess we all just have to keep in mind that Gibbs is the same coach who won 3 Superbowls with 3 different QBs.
"The biggest misrepresentation there is that [it's because] Dan's got a lot of money. That's not it," Gibbs said. "We've got a rule. Believe me, if we had no rules, Dan would spend some money."

The season is over. No team no matter how good or how well coached can win anything with a washed up Brunell at quarterback. At least with Ramsey if he gets hot and lives up to potential with the team around him this team could go far.

I dont want Brunell to start the whole season. If he is starting to give Patrick more time to heal, so he will be ready by Game 3, then that makes sense. I dont want Brunell to continue starting, because how can Ramsey improve if he doesnt play.

No. I think Gibbs is one of the best coaches in the last 50 years. If anyone can fix our offensive problems, this HOF Coach is the one to do it.

However I don't get how Patrick Ramsey gets to play 3! Count them 3, offensive series where on #3 he scores a TD (only to be called back for some bogus penalty) and then is done for maybe the season after 3 offensive series.

Now we have Brunell, who can't hit WR's for his life and almost lost us the game (which he would have if Portis hadn't been dominating) against the friken Bears! If we can only beat the Bears by 2 pts with Mark Brunell at the helm, then it will be very difficult when some actually decent teams come in against us.

None the less, Gibbs is a championship/HOF coach so I respect his descion, however in this case I question it.

series #1 - interception
series #2 - fumble(but recovered)
series #3 - wether a TD was called back or not... he then fumbled, again...

even if he scored that touchdown... it doesn't make up for all those costly or almost costly turnovers... Dallas would have turned those turnovers into points...

can Brunell do it... I don't know... I'm just saying, there's nothing that you can say that makes me think that Gibbs is overwhelmingly making a wrong decision by sitting Ramsey in place of Brunell....
