Even if he's a Iggle, I'll find some point during the season I can root for him.

Sure, when the E-gals play the Pies.

shame on u Darnerien....(it was too hard to pronounce his name anyway)....Out of all teams.....u go to the team with the most disrespectful fans in the league. It doesn't fit his personality....but o well...

ps...Gibbs cut him cuz his last name is McCants

FRANCE IN; McCANTS OUT

September 30, 2005

As expected, the Eagles promoted kicker Todd France from the practice squad on Friday, paving the way for France to handle the kicking chores Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium against the Chiefs. To make room on the 53-man roster, the team released veteran receiver Darnerien McCants.
With David Akers sidelined with a right hamstring tear, France will be expected to step in and perform.

"I still have to make the kicks," France said of his newfound responsibility. "I'm not trying any harder or focusing any more than I was last week. It's a pretty simple job we have to do, put the ball in between the uprights."

France connected on nine out of 10 field goals on Wednesday, including, according to Harbaugh, a 52-yarder. He also reportedly kicked well in limited opportunities last week.

"He's got plenty of leg strength," special teams coordinator John Harbaugh said.

As for his range for Sunday, Harbaugh says that's a "wait-and-see" thing. It figures to depend on the situation as well as on how France kicks during pre-game warmups.

The most noticeable difference between Akers and France will likely be on kickoffs.

"Dave drives the ball a little more, and being a lefty, Dave pulls it a little more to his right," Harbaugh explained. "Todd has been more of a hang-time guy."

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound France earned a spot on the All-NFL Europe team this past spring while playing for the Hamburg Sea Devils. He connected on 24 of 34 field goal attempts and all 15 extra point attempts as he led the league in scoring.

The longest field goal he hit in NFL Europe was from 54 yards. With Tampa Bay in the 2005 preseason, he hit all four of his field goal attempts, the longest from 49 yards, as well as all three of his extra point attempts.

Originally signed by Minnesota as a rookie free agent in 2002, the 25-year-old France has spent time in training camps with the Vikings (2002 and 2003), Giants (2004) and Buccaneers (2005).

A native of Holland, Ohio, France finished his career at Toledo as the all-time leading scorer among kickers in Mid-American Conference history with 320 points.

McCants caught one pass in the win over the 49ers and contributed on special teams.

They just couldn't have two D-Macs on the team at the same time.

Darnerien must have sucked worse than Billy McMullen if that's possible. Don't know why Reid has such a football woody for McMullen

Eagles sign France off practice squad; Cut McCants

September 30, 2005
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The Philadelphia Eagles signed kicker Todd France off the practice squad Friday to replace injured Pro Bowler David Akers, who is out with a torn hamstring.

France connected on 24 of 34 field goal attempts and all 15 extra point attempts in NFL Europe last spring.

Signed by Minnesota as a rookie free agent in 2002, France has been to training camps with the Vikings, Giants and Buccaneers.

The Eagles also released wide receiver Darnerien McCants, who signed with the Eagles last month after he was cut by Washington. He had one catch for 22 yards in three games.

See...other people must think he sucks too. He must think he is going to be an R & B singer instead of a football player.

One of my old high school teamates played with him at Deleware State, and when the Redskins picked him up he told me he was surprised that he made it to the NFL.

He said that the only way he could see him making it was by beefing up to play TE because he just didn't practice running routes or any of the fundamentals of playing receiver. Only reason why he noticed this is because my friend was their starting Corner.

DMac just got released by Philly today. With Gibbs acknowledging that we need a big reciever, should we look at picking him up? He knows our offense and could help us in Red Zone positions. I'm sure we could get him cheap b/c of he's been released by two teams this season already.

I'd say no. He's going to be disgruntled. He supposedly wasn't giving 100% when he was here without resentment and we're going to bring him back after he get cuts from another team thats WR hungry?

I'm sorry, that is just too funny. And people were saying how dumb we were cutting him and how smart Philly was to pick him up.
